POSTS STORIES REELS

Sometimes it feels like I get to be a follower of Christ or I get to be an embodied woman.

I can’t have both.

I can’t dare to be a woman sensually and sexually alive while also claiming to love God.

This is how I felt for years as I gently released the baton of my “Christian” label and reached forward towards the torch of possibility my teacher carried blazing on the track ahead of me, the torch of a radical Aliveness in and approval of this female body.

I never wanted to let go of my label as Christian. I tried everything I could to hold onto it, being a “good Christian girl” was a label I received a lot of safety, security and belonging from. To let go of it, even if just for a moment to loosen my grip on it, felt as if I were resigning myself to social death.

But something had to give, my body was physically ill and my mental health was significantly suffering.

While the teachings of Jesus were meant for unconditional love, salvation, peace and power, the packaging of religion these teachings came in seemed to require (implicitly of course) anyone born a woman be apologetic to that fact and in turn make herself smaller, less alive, suppressing her naturalness for the sake of proving she was sorry for existing and that she loved God.

And boy did I love God. And wanted to be pure and close with God.

So I lived by the book. I “cut off” sensation from the neck down and operated life from my intellect disconnected from sensations, feeling and the being of my body.

And in my devotion, I was disappearing.

At the time, I couldn’t see it but later through new insights and teachings from teachers I will forever be grateful for, I was able to see that it was the suppression of my aliveness, my sexual energy and life force that was the cause of all my ailments... (cont 👇🏼) by @mcshurett

I tell ya this much for free: getting lost and distracted in romantic relationships and other people’s purposes while neglecting your own heart and purpose can be an extremely painful experience. Detoxing from the chemical addiction to codependency , suffering and avoidance can be hero’s work. I know it all intimately. Here’s a bit of my journey with these patterns and what I’ve learned along the way.

It’s freedom time y’all ✌️ by @mcshurett

Something ive been noticing in my content and content im consuming is there is a lot of teaching principles and not a lot of sharing stories.

I find myself getting annoyed at content that shares wisdom without grit, without answering the question of but how you learn that?

I wanna know about the bathroom floors you’ve wailed on to arrive at the last time you reached for that drug called your ex.

I wanna know about your skinned knees, bruised bones and credit card debt that led you to this obviously, clearly, valuable pearl of wisdom that I agree with but cant yet feeeel.

Cause that’s how I learn, by hearing your story. That’s how i grow to trust you. So there was enough of me looking on at content and being annoyed by this to then look at my content (or lack there of) and get real honest about the way im sharing.

Please forgive me if ive ever tried to tell you something wise without telling you the snot it came with. Im retiring that role for now and just gunna tell you what happened.

Cause what happened is hilarious, devastating, heartbreaking, salvation soaked raunchy ass remembering and well.. that sounds a lot more fun to talk about then 5 steps to breathing for nervous system regulation.

Forgive me, I’ve splashed cold water on my face and unclenched my butthole just enough to start sharing some tea.

My hope is that these next 30 days lead to us feeling more connected than ever. I want us to be connected. Like for real thats my highest hope of an outcome here that even if we never meet you will feel like damn I feel like i know her and I feel like I can be myself more because of it.

Also this is my friend, soverign ass woman @gooddaysinaustin and me at Halloween bash last night. Deep appreciation for this woman and the Afrobeats dance floor that held us in Holy Spirit ecstasy last night. Home way too late, lost my phone in an uber, fine with it. by @mcshurett

We’re living in the Era of the Voice.

As the Voice takes center stage in humanity’s evolution, we’re realizing there’s so much more to it than what we say.

Voice begins with listening. 👂

What we expose ourselves to.
What we allow in.
The stories we repeat that shape how we see ourselves and each other.

The conversations. The music. The content we consume. The way we speak to ourselves.

All of this shapes our Voice.

We talk about having a “blocked throat chakra.” About wanting to open it.

One place to begin is becoming more discerning about what we give our attention to. Making room to listen to our inner voice and the Voice of Spirit.

Gossip, slander, and division litter the Voice.

If you want a more powerful and effective voice, start with what you’re listening to.

Follow for more ✌️

The Collapsed One. Posture 1 of 8 in the ways we brace and protect ourselves that lives in the body posture, the breath pattern, the thoughts. We can start to work with these conditioned responses by addressing our posture. Open the posture, adjust the breath, bring in the vibrational resonance of the voice through humming (great for collapse) singing, toning and watch as you naturally move from your Conditioned self to your Authentic Self.

And that’s what this is all about… having more access to your authentic self. Who you truly are under all that bracing and holding and quieting.

I share this work because I want to see THAT world, a world where we are all at home in our bodies, open in our hearts and alive in our expression. What will we create from there? What will we speak, sing, say, make, create, lead?

I’m on the edge of my seat. Right there with you, bringing life back into my body after years of defaulting into collapse. And here to share, this stuff works, capacity really is possible on the other side of collapse. Bit by bit.

If you resonate with this one, check out the other 7 postures on the free map I created for you. Link in bio 🩵 by @mcshurett

Nothing does it for me like walking by a river, praying an honest prayer and singing an honest song. Playing around with a new tune that came through recently. 🎶 by @mcshurett

Anyone else? 🤷🏻‍♀️🫠

Big ideas. Grand visions. So much excitement about what’s possible.

And then… back to bed I go.

For a long time I thought this was just who I was. Turns out there was a lot more going on.

I’ve been exploring this through a body of work I’m calling **Postures of Protection**, and I’m excited to start sharing it with you!

First up: The Collapsed One.

Boy oh boy do I know this one intimately.

If you recognize yourself here I’ve created a free map that explore all 8 patterns we can get stuck in and the possibilities beyond them.

Make time for your friends. The ones you can just totally be yourself with. The ones that get the laughter rolling ♥️

It doesn’t matter how much time has gone by, you can just pick right back up where you started.

I had this crazy idea to bring the three of us together after being apart for ten years and my dream vision came to life in Colorado in the Rocky Mountains in spring and it was just pure magic.

I texted and @mcshurett and @drkrystleetri said YES 😍😍😍

We used to frolic the San Diego lands over a decade ago, I knew we still had it 😎

It’s a reminder that we don’t always need your phone to stay connected. I do not take it personally if texts are slow and you don’t watch my stories, never.

You can allow time to naturally go by, have a dream of being back with your friends, make an invite, and make it happen.

We strolled down Pearl Street, made the most beautiful meals at home, went to Rocky Mountain National Park and saw elk and moose and chipmunks and birds and laughed our heads off until we couldn’t breathe over and over and over again. A 48-hour hour trip turned into a lifetime of memories 🥹

This is your reminder to make plans with the ones you love. Even if time has passed, even if distance has gotten between you, even if life is busy. Make the plans, make the memories, and don’t sleep on those quickie 2-night trip, you can do so much! by @mcshurett
