Every standard at The Maryland Academy of Dance exists for a reason.

Dress code is no different.

What your dancer wears to class affects what our teachers can see, what your dancer can feel, and what the entire room can accomplish together.

The standard is clear. We trust our families to meet it. by @mdacademydance

Level placement is not a judgement.

It is a starting point chosen to protect the dancers, long-term development - not reflect where they are today, but to build toward where they are going.

Trust the process. It was built FOR your dancer. taken in The Maryland Academy of Dance by @mdacademydance

Last month we posted about why dancers are placed where they are placed.

Last week we posted about what they were to class and why it matters.

This week, what happens inside the class once they arrive.

If you’re a dancer has come home talking about corrections they received, this post is for you.

Swipe through.

Only a few weeks in, and the season is moving.

muscles are waking up. Habits are returning. New students are finding their place. Returning students are remembering what they are capable of.

This is the part that doesn’t make the highlight reel. This is also the part that makes the highlight real possible.

We are right where we need to be. taken in The Maryland Academy of Dance by @mdacademydance

MAD Palooza was everything we hoped it would be.

Teachers, dancers and families in the same space. Local vendors and good food. Dancers who couldn’t wait to get back on the dance-floor.

This is the community this studio was built on.

The season is here. Let’s get to work taken in The Maryland Academy of Dance by @mdacademydance

Say hello to your Season 15 teachers and staff!

They came to teach.

But first… a two step.

These are the people your dancers will spend the next dance-year with. The ones who will give the corrections that stick, hold the standard when it’s hard to hold, and show up every week ready to build something in your child that goes far beyond the stage.

They also have moves. Clearly 🤭

Our first pop-up is officially in the books! ✅

We were so busy at MAD Palooza that we didn’t get one picture or video! 😂 It was an evening full of learning, connecting, and serving dancers and their families.

A special thank-you to @mdacademydance for inviting us to be part of such a wonderful event.

What better way to celebrate National Dance Day than by supporting our local dance community? Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shopped, placed an order, or showed us love.

First pop-up complete, and definitely not our last! 🤎✨

National Dance Day.

MAD Palooza.

The studio was full today… teachers, families, dancers and community. All in one place at the start of a new year.

This is what we are building. Not just the technique, not just the performance. The people!

Thank you to everyone who came out. The season is officially underway.

This weekend, our fearless leader became a Mrs!

Mrs. Darby built this studio from the ground up. She pours everything she has into every family who walks through these doors, and somehow finds the capacity to love even bigger outside of them.

Let’s celebrate her, not as the director of MAD, but as a person who deserves every beautiful thing.

Congratulations, Mrs. Darby White. We love you 💙 by @mdacademydance

The season starts Monday!

For some dancers, the first weeks feel like a lot. New levels, new expectations, new classmates. Muscles waking back up after summer. A studio environment that is asking more than it did last year.

This is by design.
