I wrote about becoming a death doula on my new Substack (link in bio). It's something I've been thinking about doing since caring for my dad when he was dying, 25 years ago. It's deeply meaningful to me and I'm eager to share all that I'm learning. Working on a podcast about it too (obvs!) to come out later this fall ❤️ by @mdonis

Highly recommend renewing your friendship vows after 28 years with a little vacation. Loved my part white lotus, part youth hostel getaway to Costa Rica with the one of a kind @desigalore...our beach office where I power read and you watercolored, our golf cart transpo, mangrove kayaking, wave riding, endless laughs and podcast analysis. It felt so good for @reclaimingwithmonica to be included in @rollingstone's top 10 podcasts of 2025. I call our small, but mighty team, the most “considerate and civilized team in podcasting” + wicked smart, funny and good looking. Everyone works so hard and cares so much and sometimes it’s really nice to get your flowers! And our leader, @monica_lewinsky, deserves these flowers and her reclaiming SO MUCH—a true inspiration + funny, kind, wicked smart and good looking.  Everyone I’ve come into contact in the world while working on this project is rooting for her and I love to see it. Preparing for my 4th year teaching podcasting at USC's Annenberg School of Journalism. While updating my bio and headshot for the website I found this shot @jessiecowanphotography took a couple years ago. This was in the no folder at the time, I think because I was so worried about what a photo would tell people about me "do I look too serious?" "Not cool/fun enough?" "Not serious enough?" "Too concerned with beauty?" "Do I look old?" I had a stomachache every Wednesday for the first year of teaching (maybe year #2 as well). "Am I am imposter or do I really know what I'm doing?" "Will I be able to pull off this weeks performance (teaching really draws on acting/improv skills!)?" Growth creeps in, in the smallest ways sometimes...like realizing now, my stomach doesn't hurt thinking about Wednesday anymore and I actually like this photo of me because it looks like me! And I trust that I will be able give this semester's crew most of what they need and if I can't do that for everyone, that's ok too. I'm grateful for the energy exchange that is teaching and all that it has taught me and trying to be grateful for aging too ❤️ by @mdonis

Canada Part 3: The Praries. Heart full after a pilgrimage to my dad Frank's hometown of Grimshaw, Alberta to bury some of his ashes with his mom and dad (24 years later.) All wheat fields, grain elevators and wide expanse. Loved reconnnecting with family I haven't seen in 20 years and learning about my grandpa Frank Donicci, who came from Italy through Ellis Island in his teens and found work in Canada building some of the original bridges. He became the first mayor or Grimshaw and his picture was still hanging in the town hall! My grandma Millie's spaghetti was famous in the area and we even got to watch my 89 year old aunt Carmen officiate a local wedding. There is nothing like days of sharing stories about loved ones no longer with us. We had a few tears, but much more laughter than anything (Dad was a bit of shit disturber growing up ❤️) taken in Grimshaw, Alberta by @mdonis
