My homies and I won some awards! @monica_lewinsky is the brain, face, voice and 🩵 behind @reclaimingwithmonica and I’m lucky to put a tiny stamp on the show when the opportunity presents itself. @mdonis is the engine with a heart of gold behind the operation. @emilyfeldbrake is a wonderful pinch hitter. Love these ladies!

My daughter Gigi decided to go floral vintage for Prom with a gown of mine I wore to an animal welfare event almost 10 years ago! She was the head of the committee and made the theme floral just so she could wear it.🌺

Not only is she mindul of fast fashion and it's environmental toll, she also knows exactly how to strike an emotional chord with her Mama✨💖

A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us in Celebrating Sriyanka yesterday. It was a magical night of memories, music, laughter, her award-winning work and community both here in Calcutta and her chosen family in New York 💚 Here’s a snippet of the event. Link in bio for the full video

***

To celebrate Sriyanka’s timeless legacy and her infinite contributions to the lives of everyone around her, we held a tribute to the powerhouse that she will always be. On 29th December, 2023, we came together to remember her through her unparalleled work as a filmmaker, as the fierce ringleader to communities across the world and through heartwarming moments and songs shared by her family and friends.

I’ve walked by these Iris’s this week on this white wall and it reminds me so much of my Mamaw. She loved purple flowers and in college would send me photos she had taken in her Michigan yard or of scenes of natures in all its seasonal glory. If I got lucky it would even include actually leaves in the envelope. Miss those letters. Another day of drying out in LA. Added other favorite finds today including the 2nd to last photo of this giant blooming shrub that I can smell a block before I get to it and it’s total bliss! Wish I could bottle. 💛

🗣🗣 I’ve been working on this documentary podcast for more than a year & it's finally out next week! It's the story of a little-known feminist porn magazine put out by Bob Guccione in the '70s & staffed by a group of scrappy female journalists. It’s about sex and desire and power but also about my favorite topics: work & ambition. I'm so grateful to @crookedmedia & @iheartpodcast & everyone who helped make this project & i can't wait for this story to be out in the world. MORE TO COME! I’LL TRY NOT TO BE TOO ANNOYING! You can hear the trailer now (links/bio). If you like it, please subscribe. 🎙🎙

This is what late November looks like in southern California.

And no, I did not get in the waves today, unlike my intrepid surfer-girl pal @mdonis. Somebody had to hang back and keep an eye on the snacks!

I got on a surfboard for the very first time today. (And yes, actually got on it IN THE WATER!) I am not much of a water person, especially when that water is gigantic and in constant motion. My goals were modest: a) to not freak out about getting tossed around in the sea, b) to not sprain an ankle, and c) to at least make a serious attempt to get upright on the board, though I told my instructor I’d consider it a win even if all I did was paddle out on my belly.

Well, my ankles are fine, my arms are sore, my nasal passages are thoroughly irrigated by the many waves I tumbled under, and I actually managed to catch some waves, get on my feet and stay up for SEVERAL SECONDS at a time! 😂
