Why hire a midwife?

Because you don’t need rescuing— but you deserve to be witnessed.
Because the body remembers how to birth— but sometimes, it helps to be held through the remembering.
The presence of a midwife who comes not to manage, but to serve. Holding skills and experience.
Coming not with fear, but with reverence. Not to interrupt, but to anchor. Not to do, but to be.
To warm the water. To brew the herbs. To know when to speak, and when to sit in silence.
To keep watch while you travel between worlds.
Midwifery is not about control— It’s about holding a sacred container So you can unfold, unafraid.
When you choose a midwife, Let it be someone who remembers that this is your birth, your body, your baby, your power.

Closing of the Bones; a ceremony of ancestral Mexican origin acknowledging the immense change a woman undergoes in pregnancy and childbirth.

Indebted to these two magnificent women who have nourished my body and mind throughout my pregnancy, labor and postpartum journey.

Patti @umamother your influence has fundamentally altered my approach to self-advocacy. Honored to have you present as our doula, your craft is especially poignant within a flawed system. For any person on their preconception/pregnancy journey I propose you start with Uma, an expansive education space & incredible community. I have stepped through the door of motherhood more deeply rooted in my intuition because of you Patti, and the other women you have touched.

Meaghan @meaghan_snider_ your essential work underscores the critical importance of holistic support during this transformative phase of life. Every woman deserves the midwifery care you provide, honoring not only the physical but mental & emotional.

✨ Correction - born 2026, 6.12lbs - lol mom brain already starting. The story of my unmedicated orgasmic home birth 💫

And yes, while it was the hardest work I’ve ever done, here are the reasons I’d do it again:

Uninterrupted bonding time and a soft landing for baby in our protected energy bubble

No pharmaceutical interventions impeding the oxytocin/DMT explosion - honestly felt like i was on mdma for three days straight

Extended connection with the placenta to support baby’s transition, along with placenta supplements for postpartum

No forced pushing which meant no tearing or hemorrhoids, and a swift recovery

Embodying the raw, primal power of creation, spiritual initiation & cosmic bliss

I’m incredibly grateful for my birth team whom I couldn’t have done it without. If you’re considering home birth, I cannot sing the praises of these women enough @meaghan_snider_ @alreadywithinyoga @pamkessinger @emilymoonbeam

And of course my husband for being my grounded pillar of strength through it all, and Bodhi for his infinite wisdom and transforming me into mother 🤍
