Grip Strength: An Army of Lovers Shall Not Fail opens this Friday in Houston, TX. 💕

BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four new exhibitions opening Friday, September 11 , 2026 6–9 PM.

In our Upstairs BOX gallery we are excited to introduce “Grip Strength: An Army of Lovers Shall Not Fail” by KT Abadir-Mullally. Through interactive soft sculptures and ceramics inspired by strength sports and queer activism, the exhibition invites visitors to engage with themes of queer resilience, desire, collective power, and resistance.

What will remain of the present once it becomes history? Dust Collectors, a two-person exhibition by KT Abadir-Mullally and @paolomentasti at Grizzly Grizzly, approaches this question through sculpture, archives, and participatory excavation, using the language and methods of archaeology to probe how histories are constructed, preserved, and interpreted.

Together, these works collapse past, present, and future into close relation, reflecting on the production and extraction of material culture while examining how narratives form around historical objects. The exhibition positions the present as a site of future discovery, where contemporary objects become evidence and narrative is never neutral.. Against the violence of extraction, these artists disrupt the familiar cycle of finding and interpreting, insisting instead on material agency and self-narration. taken in Grizzly Grizzly by @meatspace2000

BRIDGING DYKE AND TRANS FEMINISMS ✧.*
March 21 - June 21, 2026

In an authoritarian political moment strongly defined by overt anti-trans, anti-disability, anti-poor, anti-queer, racist and misogynist policy-setting in the context of an ever-growing police state, it is necessary that our intersectional communities build a tighter web of defiance, looking to feminist principles of solidarity and resistance to guide us.

A solid foundation for bridge-building exists between two branches of feminism, Lesbian Feminism and Trans Feminism. In this exciting exhibit, six pairs of Philadelphia-based, multigenerational and multi-gender artists collaborated to create new work in mixed media, painting, sculpture, textiles, video, and zines. Months of dialogue and community-building produced this shared project of resistance.

Carrying politics in their bodies the artists responded to each other, their communities, and the world at-large. Referencing themes of monstrosity, queer joy and pain, being on the fringes, darkness, struggle, and lifelines, their work speaks collectively to the intersection of feminisms, community care, world-building, and the continuing fight for Trans and Queer liberation.

New work by six pairs of intergenerational Dyke and Trans artists.
