🧱 What is Medalta? We’re essentially a really cool, old museum and industrial site! Filled with factory facts, fun classes, and clay from both past & future!

➡️ We’re also home to MIAIR - the Medalta International Artists In Residence. It’s a pretty unique and creative space.

You should come check us out some time!!🤘

Hey, we’re the MIAIR artists, and we call Medicine Hat home 🌾. The Hat is a pretty great place with tons of murals, street art, and little creative surprises everywhere you look.

We spend most of our days @ Medalta, playing with clay, making messes, and soaking up all the inspiration this city has to offer.

But there are a ton of other really cool spaces and places to go like unique local shops, coffee spots, art exhibitions, and beautiful parks and river hangouts too!

If you haven’t been to the Hat yet, we encourage you to plan a visit!!

Posting everyday: Day 2
My first how-to video I guess. I started making these “use me” trinket dishes because I find they are easier to make than bowls~

Reintroducing myself to the internet: I’m SadArtStudent and I’m a resident at the Medalta International Artist in Residence Program. Let’s see what silly things I’ll make…

Are you waiting to hear back from us about the results of your residency application?

Well, here is a quick update:

We have had a lot going on over here, and are working hard to do a thorough job with the applications and decision making. If you’ve applied for a spot in Carole Epp’s Thematic Residency, you wont’t have to wait much longer, as results are scheduled to go out October 16.

As for the Flex & Monthly applications, you can count on receiving results by October 30.

Apologies for the delay!

Haven’t thrown in awhile but I’m teaching a beginners class for the fall @medalta as part of @medaltaartists residency - simple but effective and functional are not useually my jam but it’s a good demo for trimming - Christmas is coming so maybe I can convince the students to try and make a plant pot for a Christmas gift or better yet get them to try and match the pot to the plant 🤪

How to spot @medalta alumni in the wild?

Well, they just might have one of our beehive kilns tattooed on their finger!
Thank you @gracewboyd 🫶🏼

@thisiscorley appreciation day. I made fast friends with Corley during a little work shop last year in #medicinehat and bonded over strange art and laughs. It was pretty cool that @tomospots and Corley drove up to see my thesis show in Calgary @albertauarts. And now that I’m a @medaltaartists @medalta I get to hang out with this hilarious and amazing hooman bean.

The first shot was forcing her to jam her hand in the orifice until she was ready to do it for her self haha - swipe right lol to see the video and a Beauty shot of this body like vessel, that was hand built, soda fired and fitted with silicone offices. The amount of action this object got unprompted was astounding to me. Who knew this was a thing people needed. 🤪 taken in Alberta University of the Arts by @medaltaartists
