What started with an invitation to the @mediahighschool at the George Washington High School campus turned into meeting Principal Russo, volunteering with the students, and eventually developing THE BRK-THRU Academy. To now launch THE BRK-THRU docu-series during Hispanic Heritage Month and have our journey highlighted by PIX11 has been incredible!

Thank you to @iamvictory44, PIX11, the school, our students, @ricardo.monteroh our team @kanessat and everyone who helped bring this vision to life. We’re just getting started 🎬

Keep watching.
Keep believing.
Keep breaking through.

Last night some of our students went to @nyuniversity for a screening & conversation between our very own Media Production teacher & award-winning journalist Mr. Montero and Bangladeshi Photographer, writer, educator and Time Magazine Person of the Year 2018 @shahidul001 📸
The conversation centered around the future of media, the power of photography and hope for the next generation of storytellers.

🎥📖 #FlashbackFriday | Where Stories Come to Life
From the Dominican Republic to Washington Heights, “Leer es Florecer” brought together culture, creativity, and education under one roof at the George Washington Educational Campus.
Together, students experienced a weekend filled with renowned authors, inspiring speakers, artists, and meaningful conversations that celebrated the richness of Dominican literature and identity.
These are the moments that shape future journalists, educators, storytellers, and leaders.
🌺 Read. Learn. Lead. Flourish.

Career readiness is about more than learning technical skills. It’s about building confidence, professionalism, comunication, and meaningful relationships.

As one of our student leaders shared:

“My experience with leading our school’s presentation was incredible because I had the opportunity to speak to educators and leaders from schools across New York City and represent High School for Media and Communications. Although I was nervous to present in a room full of people, it pushed me out of my comfort zone and prepared me for future opportunities where I’ll need to speak with confidence. I’m proud that our presentation inspired other schools as we shared the activities and opportunities available to our students.”

Moments like these demonstrate the power of authentic student leadership. When young people are trusted with real responsibilities, recognized for their contributions, and given opportunities to share their voices, they begin to see themselves as leaders. Every presentation, every conversation, and every community connection helps prepare students for success in college, careers, and life.
