POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What started with an invitation to the @mediahighschool at the George Washington High School campus turned into meeting Principal Russo, volunteering with the students, and eventually developing THE BRK-THRU Academy. To now launch THE BRK-THRU docu-series during Hispanic Heritage Month and have our journey highlighted by PIX11 has been incredible!

Thank you to @iamvictory44, PIX11, the school, our students, @ricardo.monteroh our team @kanessat and everyone who helped bring this vision to life. We’re just getting started 🎬

Keep watching.
Keep believing.
Keep breaking through.

🚨🎮🏆 Minecraft has officially taken over the classrooms in Uptown… and honestly, it’s amazing to see. Growing up, we never had opportunities like this.

Today, students at the George Washington Educational Campus are using Minecraft Education to build cities, solve real-world challenges, collaborate with teammates, and develop skills that could lead to future careers in technology, design, engineering, and beyond.

I’m proud to see The High School of Media and Communication bringing opportunities like this to our community. In partnership with @spin_encyclopedia_ , they’re empowering the next generation of innovators by connecting gaming with real-world learning.

This is exactly the kind of investment our young people deserve, and it’s exciting to see what’s happening right here in Uptown.

Would you have wanted a program like this when you were in school? 👇

Everyone called him a bad kid. She asked him why he was so angry. Nobody had ever done that before. 💙

Zulaika Velazquez saw a student at George Washington High School that the whole school had written off — acting out, yelling at teachers, already joining a gang.

She invited him to rehearsal instead.

What nobody knew: he was living in a shelter in Brooklyn, dropping off his siblings every morning before commuting to school, grieving the only father figure he'd ever had.

He got accepted to the Stella Adler Conservatory on a full scholarship. The school said they'd never seen a monologue performed that way.
All it took was one person who asked why.

On a recent podcast episode with @communitasamerica, we got to share some words of wisdom for aspiring changemakers, entrepreneurs, and innovators from the lessons we’ve learned over the years. We may still be a pretty new organization, but one thing is clear, none of our work would be possible without the people who paved the way for the sustainable agriculture, food relief, and technology workforce landscape that we’ve been able to be a part of. 🫶🏽

We have so much to catch you up on as our new year has been jam packed with new projects and updates, so we’ll be sure to share soon! In the meantime, check out the link in our bio to listen to our podcast episode with Communitas America (who just so happens to be the hosts of our first accelerator program we attended nearly 7 years ago)! 🤓
