Finding a collaborative MD, NP, or PA who is willing to support a patient-led deprescribing taper can be surprisingly difficult. We currently have a few folks looking for a collaborative prescriber in ALABAMA, MASSACHUSETTS, OHIO, and SOUTH CAROLINA.

Telehealth providers are welcome, but we’d also love to hear about in-person providers—even if they’re not nearby, as some people are willing to drive.
If you are a collaborative prescriber yourself, or if you are a current or former patient of a collaborative prescriber in one of these states, please contact us at medicatingnormal@gmail.com with the provider’s name, contact information, and location.

We will not publicly list or share these providers unless they specifically ask us to. We’re simply hoping to connect a few people who need a prescriber willing to work with them on a patient-led taper.

One of the things I hear so often from people going through prescribed drug withdrawal is, 'I wish my family understood what was happening to me.'

So I created 'Prescribed Drug Injury: A Supporter’s Guide' especially for partners, relatives, friends, carers, and anyone who wants to better understand and support someone experiencing prescribed drug withdrawal or injury.

The course is completely free.

It offers simple information and guidance to help supporters understand some of what their loved one may be experiencing, how they can respond helpfully, and how important their support can be during what may be a very difficult and confusing time.

There is no fee to pay. You or your supporter will simply need to register and log in to access the course, and a certificate of completion is available at the end.

Join the Medicating Normal Outreach Team in supporting our friend and longtime advocate Brooke Siem ( @brookesiem ) as she raises funds to create a fully revised and updated second edition of her award-winning memoir about antidepressant withdrawal, "May Cause Side Effects." A fan of the film, Brooke has also been an articulate and compelling panelist following multiple Medicating Normal screenings.

Medicated as a teenager with a cocktail of six psychiatric drugs, Brooke was plunged into severe, destabilizing withdrawal when her doctor advised the abrupt discontinuation of 37.5 mg of Effexor XR. After discovering there were almost no personal accounts of antidepressant withdrawal, Brooke wrote "May Cause Side Effects" in 2022 to validate her own experience and provide a resource for others suffering from medication harm, as well as for caregivers, doctors, and family members.

Since then, much has changed, and Brooke now has the opportunity to update the book to better serve the community.

• A new audiobook narrated by Brooke
• Updated scientific research and resources
• A new section for parents and loved ones
• A simplified Q&A section based on questions Brooke has fielded since publication

"You Are Not Alone: Join the Stolen Lives Picnic - Michigan

Survivors of prescribed harm, bereaved families, advocates, and members of the public are invited to attend the first Stolen Lives Picnic being held in the United States.

The event will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the Michigan State Capitol Lawn in Lansing, Michigan.

This peaceful awareness and remembrance gathering will honor children, veterans, and loved ones whose lives were lost or deeply harmed following psychiatric medication injuries, inadequate informed consent, suicide, overmedicalization, and failures within our healthcare and mental-health systems.

Survivors and families are welcome to attend, speak, share their testimony, or submit the name and photograph of a loved one to be remembered during the event. Guests are invited to bring a picnic lunch, blanket, and a 5×7 or 8×10 photograph of their loved one.

CALL FOR STORIES

Calling all Black and Hispanic individuals, and anyone living in the Los Angeles area, with lived experience of severe antidepressant withdrawal.

The Antidepressant Coalition for Education (ACE) is seeking American participants for an upcoming public service announcement. We are especially encouraging Black and Hispanic individuals to apply as we work to ensure diverse representation among those sharing their stories. We also welcome applicants of all racial and ethnic backgrounds who live in the Los Angeles area.
Filming will take place in Los Angeles, so preference will be given to LA-area residents or those who are able to cover their own travel expenses. For participants traveling from outside the area, a stipend of up to $500 may be available to help offset travel costs.
