The project about home. ♥️

To tell you about my home is to open up about my belonging. At times in special circumstances, my belonging is challenged and to overcome this, I am presented with options: stay, leave, or rebuild. Many of us are.
Belonging is a human quest upon which homes are built. My project came from the idea of building a home with special consideration for the strength it takes to rebuild after moving.
Furthermore, the foundation upon which we build our homes connects to our bodies through ripples, like layered water or electric currents undulating and transporting waves of effect throughout our nervous system. A home is a sanctuary from the chaos. ❤️‍🩹

The people I interviewed for this project (to create the sonic ambience) came from Ukraine, South Korea, Slovakia, Turkey, and Palestine. I asked them seven questions prodding at the concept of belonging. As migrants, we build on foreign lands out of necessity or desire; any way, no matter how dark, violent, or messy, peace is what we seek.

Spreading love and gratitude to you all more than anything! Thank you to my loved ones who showed up & to the new people I met. May we be forever supportive of one another and find common ground! 💞

This piece is titled Ripples: Home is Where the Heart Is and I made out of materials collected from Berlin train stations for BUA’s X-Tutorial @formsofbelonging ran by @juliannechua and @frehiwot_anna ‘s 2025 exhibition Crossings.

My dear friends and subjects for this project were @kksimova , @zyeonii_ , @felithepeli ‘s mother, @pemphred0 , & @alinajjar9 . Forever grateful! Let me first plant flowers, nurture them as they grow, and then harvest them for you! 💐
