a quick study for the portfolio, thinking of painting just how far a reactive and adapted subconscious will push itself to save its body. what is your internal experience of the day when a stressful year has already passed last night ? dissociation, hallucination, the shadow people, and leaving bed to check every corner of your locked bedroom. make sure your shoes are tied and check your peripheral vision. don’t forget your keys! how could it start if it doesn’t end by @megara.rt

"Orifices" opens next week on June 5th and will be on until the 14th of June.
Please join us on the opening night, June 5th from 5-7 pm at 100 McCaul St, in the Ada Slaight Gallery. Food and drinks will be provided.

"Orifices" explores what it means to be a queer artist. Through material investigation, these artist's works seek to show the multifaceted experience of being queer, devoid of any heteronormative lens that expects them to create art that performs for a consumerist audience.
Like a light that ever so slightly shines through the fissure of the tapestry.

if i pray to God hard enough will he save the function of my memory? am i correctly kneeling at the foot of my bed, or must i be low enough to crawl underneath it? o catholic God, help me here. as a girl my knees are bony, but as a woman they are plump of flesh for extra cushioning. is God really on my side if my father loves on him every night? we have daily ritual of family dinner; the fattening of my body tempers the weight of his sermons. the cross on the wall is nothing more than two faces and thirty-six edges. there is no God here, and my bony knees can only pray so hard. God, hear my prayers so that i may eat my dinner and feel full: fill his veins with anoxic air. let the Mother take his flesh back into her. may he rot until bone so the beetles may eat tonight. God, please smother his life so that his energy may be recycled into something small enough that i can crush under my weak heel. may he lose his five senses so that i can pray under my bed safely. prove he is not of this world so that i may eat my dinner slowly. by @megara.rt
