⚠️DISCLAIMER: No AI was used nor harmed during the making of this Digital Exhibition. ☀️Throughout the summer, we’ve been working alongside @ocaduinternational (the International Programs & Collaborations Office at OCAD University) to bring you something special. We’re thrilled to finally share this unique digital exhibition with all of you! In February 2026, OCAD U students from across disciplines, guided by locals, immersed themselves in the vibrant pulse of Mexico City through local perspectives as they captured ideas on their journals. Yet, even in shared spaces, student’s impressions diverged beautifully—a brilliant manifestation of unique artistic identity. RAW, UNFILTERED & UNPOLISHED. This Digital Exhibition invites you inside their journals. As you scroll, you will have a glimpse of Mexico City filtered through the intimate lens of a creative mind. 🔴RAW, UNFILTERED & UNPOLISHED is dedicated to all participants of the Program “Creative Contrasts: From Contrasts to Creation in Mexico City, 2026”: Alex, Ana, Berfu, Billie, Desirae, Jana, Megara, Shawn, Sofia, Sreya, and Tzu-Jui — February seems so long ago! We hope you enjoy the result of our week together. Keep on doodling! #OCADU150 #OCADU #ocaduinternational #MexicoCity

Happy Wednesday! 🙌 We would like to highlight two individuals who have been assisting us behind the scenes. Megara Leo, currently completing a placement with OCAD University as our Collections Assistant (and who has also volunteered with us throughout the year), and Lucinda Sande, who is working with us as a Collections Research Assistant through the Master of Museum Studies program, supporting research on our storied collection. We are grateful to have them on board this summer! A bit more about each individual: ℹ️Megara Leo is completing a BA Honours in Visual and Critical Studies at OCAD University, with a minor in Drawing and Painting. She plans to pursue a Master’s degree abroad, bringing together her interests in art history, curation, and painting toward a career in art restoration and conservation. A multidisciplinary artist, Megara works in oil paint, charcoal, and printmaking. Her practice explores the human body and psyche through the lens of history, symbolism, and shifting sociocultural narratives, drawing on iconographical traditions to inform contemporary visual storytelling. ℹ️Lucinda Sande is an artist, researcher, and writer based between Halifax and Toronto. Having completed a BA in English Literature, they are currently pursuing a Master’s of Museum Studies at the University of Toronto. Their thesis focuses on Toronto’s women photographers of the 1970s. Applying a feminist and queer-affirming lens, their research interests include Toronto-based artist communities and initiatives. After graduate studies, they intend to apply their research skills to collections management and curation. As an amateur artist, they work in film photography, ceramics, and painting. 🎨🖼️📚 #OpenStudioToronto #ArtResearch #CollectionsCare #PrintmakingStudio

"Orifices" opens next week on June 5th and will be on until the 14th of June. Please join us on the opening night, June 5th from 5-7 pm at 100 McCaul St, in the Ada Slaight Gallery. Food and drinks will be provided. "Orifices" explores what it means to be a queer artist. Through material investigation, these artist's works seek to show the multifaceted experience of being queer, devoid of any heteronormative lens that expects them to create art that performs for a consumerist audience. Like a light that ever so slightly shines through the fissure of the tapestry. From 15–21 February, in collaboration with @ocaduinternational (International Programs & Collaborations Office at OCAD University) and hosted by @culturans.lab, 11 students joined us in Mexico City for Creative Contrasts: From Contrasts to Creation.✨🌇🇲🇽 🌱Creative Contrasts was designed as an experiential learning laboratory to sharpen creativity. Students engaged directly with the city’s dynamic ecosystem. Exploring Mexico City’s powerful contrasts—heritage and innovation, stillness and chaos, community and individuality. ☀️Over five days, students gained rare access to local perspectives while being challenged to move beyond observation and into deep presence. Journals recorded questions, realizations, and moments of connection. Participants didn’t just explore Mexico City — they entered into dialogue with it.
