Making this nearly killed me 😅 but I knew I needed to show these absolute works of art off to the best of my ability! and I didn’t even manage to capture the pull out maps!

The Faithful and the Fallen is so unbelievably special to me and it always will be, so when The Broken Binding announced this was their fantasy pick… I was so excited! I kept waiting for someone to come out with special edition & I’m very lucky I was subscribed!

In a separate but related note, I am verrrrrry excited for Wolves of War! I have a feeling John Gwynne might make me cry. Again. Will invest in handkerchiefs in preparation. taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy

Happy flatlay Friday, Bartholomew!
As I await (not so) patiently for my copy of The Knave and the Moon to arrive (I honestly might have to kindle it soon, the FOMO is real) I thought I’d lay out the absolutely gorgeous special edition from @fairyloot - one of my most prized possessions.

Happy Saturday!

And what a Saturday it is given that my @illumicrate editions of the Farseer trilogy arrived today and it’s so gorgeous I could cry.

I love what I’ve read so far in the Realm of the Elderlings. Real talk, I got to The Tawny Man trilogy, read the first book, 30% of the second book, gave birth to my second son and have not picked it up since 🥲. I think my dilemma now is do I reread the first book or try and find a recap? Because I can’t remember a singular thing thanks to pregnancy and baby brain.

I adore Farseer but my favourite of the two trilogies I’ve read has to be Liveship Traders so I’ve got my fingers crossed that Illumicrate do an edition of that also!
And that brings me onto my question of the day:

❔ Farseer or Liveships?

Happy Monday friends!
Here I have yet another finished series (I read the last book on my kindle bcos it was in the 99p deal).

Another mixed bag for me, this series. Book 2 is by far and away my favourite. And I fear what I’m about to say may be taken as ‘look at all these words, look at all these paragraphs in my book’ but I really hope not - the chapter lengths about killed me. As an ADHD girly (literally & I’m not allowed to be medicated right now lollllll) and a person who HATES leaving a chapter unfinished, 50+ page chapters make me want to throw up. And that’s what we had here folks.

Chapter length aside, the story itself I enjoyed to a degree. The magic system is convoluted and takes some getting used to. The characters are fantastic. Despite how relatively short these books are (all under 400 pages) it’s a surprisingly complex world and I think the best way to describe the series is ‘it’s a lot’. But it is unique, in a way stories about magic schools generally aren’t anymore.
It did make me cry on more than one occasion, so points for that. I’m glad I read it but it’s another one I’m not going out of my way to recommend (unless someone is looking for something very specific). taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy

Aaaaand that’s another series completed.
I’m truly torn on how to feel about this one. It felt slow at times, understated I think is maybe the best way to describe it. Subtle, almost. The last book went in a direction I wasn’t expecting, which isn’t a bad thing but it felt a little lacklustre.
I’m assuming she’s left some threads open for spin-offs? Because there were a couple of threads left very loose. The final confrontation felt rushed. But I liked the characters! I’m just not sure I’m going to be telling people they need to read this. taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy

That’s one more series completed!
In a concerted effort to get through my paperbacks, almost all of which are firsts in a series, I picked up Her Majesty’s Royal Coven. I have had this on my shelf since 2023 & I am, once again, kicking myself for not getting to it sooner.

This is SO fun. I laughed out loud, I cried. I LOVED that it was set mostly in Yorkshire. I loved the rep, I loved it all.
Really thoroughly recommend this one! taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy

Happy flatlay Friday everyone!

One of my favourite features of a special edition these days is a full colour hardback with some sort of artwork. Dare I say, I find just foil a little lacklustre these days. Not when you can do both full colour AND foil. I’m realising I’m a maximalist when it comes to special editions 🙈

What would you prefer? Full colour hardback or foil? by @megreadsfantasy

Okay, unpopular opinion alert…

I really like this 😂 it feels different to me! I actually really love how refreshing all of illumicrates designs have felt this year, compared to other book boxes.
And I’m also very excited to read this! But the tbr is getting out of hand again (was it ever really in hand?) by @megreadsfantasy

Happy Monday!

Can you even believe we’re at the end of September already? That’s genuinely crazy. Where has the time gone?

Today I thought I’d show off the broken binding edition of Piranesi. My not so humble brag is I read this when it came out. It drew me in slowly then all at once. To this day I still think about it - but I do think I may be overdue a reread 🤭 taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy

I had my flatlay Friday all pictured and ready to go but then this turned up yesterday. It could have waited but I’m so obsessed with it that I had to share.

Spoilers 👇

This is SO different from Fairyloot and I’m obsessed. I even love the little wizard on the edges. But the naked hardback? YEAH. THAT’S what I’m talking about.
I haven’t heard much about this book but I’m very excited to dive in! taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy

Finished this a couple of days ago and… wow.

I found it a little slow at times (although that could be a personal issue) but other than that 👀 wowowow.
The world, plot & lore are so interesting but where this really shone for me was the characters. There’s a minor romantic (and I do mean minor pls don’t go into this expecting a ton of romance, lol) sub plot that was excellently done. I’m obsessed with them.
And I love characters who are flawed, who maybe don’t make the right choices, or we faced with impossible ones. Oh it was just an absolutely incredible reading experience.
This is technically a stand alone as of right now, but the author said there are more stories she could tell from this world - and all I have to say to that is PLEASE?????🙏 taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy

Happy release day to The Wretched Divine & Adalyn Grace!!

I’ve been soooooo unbelievably hyped for this since she announced with that impeccable art. It’s a tbr disrupter I fear. Angels & demons ohhhhh gimmegimmegimme!!!!
Also, when I ordered the Waterstones edition for some reason (unless I forgot lol) I did not recall it having this gorgeous stunning AND beautiful naked hardback???? taken in BOOKSTA by @megreadsfantasy
