Day 3: Strength

The thing we love about Elain is that her strength manifests in many different ways.

She has the willpower to survive the void of the cauldron, the fortitude to push through the mental assault of her visions, and the courage to kick a beast with her bare feet or wield a magic blade to take down an ancient king without hesitation, but at the same time, she has quiet determination.

She chooses softness in a hard world, she chooses hope over hate and gentleness instead of cruelty, and that, in the end, is an even more powerful sort of strength.

Vic and Lero, the two amazing artists behind @lilytea_art, did such an incredible job with this piece! We were all so excited for the chance to work with them!

Elriel Month: Endless Possibilities

“Azriel still cradling Elain to his chest. He dripped blood behind him the entire time—a trickle compared to the torrent that should be leaking out. Contained only by the patches of power he’d slapped on it. Help—he needed a healer immediately. . . Nesta let out a sob at the sight of Elain, still in Azriel’s arms. . .Rhys lunged for Azriel, taking Elain from him and gently setting my sister down. Azriel rasped, swaying on his feet, “We need Helion to get these chains off her.” Yet Elain didn’t seem to notice them as she rose up on her toes and kissed the shadowsinger’s cheek.”

There is so much to love about this scene: Azriel cradling Elain to himself, Elain making no move to leave his arms, Azriel’s only concern being Elain despite his own wounds, the two of them having to be physically separated by Rhys, and then Elain giving Azriel the one and only kiss he has received in the series. This whole scene had such romantic undertones and further cemented the relationship that has been developing between Elain and Azriel.
