As many of you know, my brother passed this past week. I was at the pool with my friend when I got a message from my mom where she told me he had been read his last rites and that he would be moved to hospice the next day. My friend Giselle insisted we go straight to the hospital, rather than me wait the next day to see him at hospice. When I was there I rubbed his chest and brushed his teeth and combed his hair. I told him I would see him tomorrow and finish reading him the book we were reading. Giselle told me to be sure to tell him it’s ok for him to go when he wanted, so I did - I told him he could go whenever he wanted. When we left, I hated the idea of leaving him alone with nothing, so I rummaged through my bag of stuff from pool day, and luckily found one of my birds feathers had made its way into my bag. So I placed it in his hands and told him if he got scared just hold on to it and I’d be there with him. And he passed on a few hours later. My brother was diagnosed with cancer on 6/6 and passed on 9/9. He had multiple myeloma, but we were told his was localized, and that if you were going to get any type of cancer this was the one to get, and I expected him to make a full recovery. The cancer made his bones brittle and the tumor pressed on his spine causing fractured vertebra. But he was up and moving, at times even forgetting to use his walker. Over a period of two days he couldn’t move anything from the waist down and an ambulance came and got him and he had emergency surgery on his spine that night. A rod was put in his back and most of the tumor was removed. He was excitedly making preparations to be moved to a physical rehab facility where they would work 3 hours a day to get him walking again. But then he woke up in the middle of the night vomiting and he was gone only a week later. My heart is so broken. My soul kitty Daphne and my brother Mike in one year. I hope they are keeping each other company in heaven. *and I admittedly have never liked it when people take pics like this and here I was doing it myself. 😂 But I’m so happy I have it now. ❤️ by @megzymcd
