𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀

𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹

Lukisan Pearl (2024) merupakan apropriasi AC Andre Tanama atas lukisan Girl with a Pearl Earring (1665) karya Johannes Vermeer.

𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗫𝗟

Inspired by the behavior of Gentoo penguins from the Islas Malvinas, known for their curious and exploratory nature, but also for their cautious attitude towards the unknown. The figure represents a child who observes the world with interest and wants to get closer and explore, yet can easily feel intimidated or frightened.

The penguin therefore becomes a metaphor for a curious, sensitive, and somewhat shy personality: someone who first observes from a distance, gathers the courage to approach, and, when faced with an unexpected stimulus, quickly retreats to their safe space.

Representing the character as a child dressed as a penguin reinforces the ideas of innocence and playfulness. He is not literally a penguin, but a child who identifies with it and adopts its characteristics, turning the animal’s behavior into an expression of his own personality.

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝘆

In Heart Balloons, Grey, affection is presented as something both weightless and difficult to release. The heart-shaped balloon embodies desire and emotional attachment, suspended between possession and freedom. Its vibrant presence against a muted figure suggests the persistence of feeling even when the self chooses distance, silence, or restraint.
