would you rather be squished in the middle seat on an airplane for four hours or… sit on a super cool train with lots of leg room and big windows and a cafe car and space to walk around and you can bring whatever snacks you want and sit at a table in the observation car with no traffic or turbulence and you can take a nap whenever you want and you get to see the coast of california and the mountains of oregon and play card games and watch movies and study and read and drink tea and doodle… for thirty five hours

1. moving houses is a lot of work
2. there are six types of palm trees in SD
3. always bring a light jacket to the beach
4. trader joe’s makes really good croutons
5. public libraries are super underrated
6. serrated knives are dangerous
7. detroit-style pizza is the best pizza
8. go padres
9. it’s impossible to guess the wordle on the first try
10. it actually does rain in san diego
11. the costco membership was worth it
12. defrosted wedding cake is still yummy
13. anything is walking distance if you have time
14. physics is hard
15. the california burrito.
16. grant grove trees are really tall

look who came to visit!

three years ago around this time we were exploring naruko gorge in japan and meeting up for soup curry when jordan came to visit sendai :’)

last year we coordinated a weekend trip to the oregon coast but the beach was a lot chillier than our time on the beach this year in san diego :’)
