POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We have been a bit underground and overwhelmed but super excited because we have been chosen to perform at Abhivyakti City Art Edition 8 in Ahmedabad this year ( Dates of our performance will be announced soon ! )

“Unearthed” - The story of Dholavira is our way of bringing Heritage, History and Storytelling on a platform for all to engage and experience the Indus valley civilisation and what it must have been like 4500 years back.

Joining us on board is my partner in Odissi and Storytelling @siddhi_odissipractitioner

No production is a solo effort and we have on board so many people to help and guide us

Thank you @abhivyakti_city_art @iamkrutimahesh for encouraging a new idea and @goag7 to have faith in my idea and execution!

Super nervous and excited!
None of this is possible without blessings of my guru @dakshacheerful

🌊 Meet Melitta Dsouza, a contemporary movement artist with 20 years of experience across dance, musical and physical theatre, choreography and movement education. Her work spans musical productions, solo performance, dance film, and more! Her film Until It Ran Into Me premiered at Cinedans Amsterdam and received a Special Mention for Best Choreography at ZED Festival Videodanza.

Melitta’s practice uses devised movement to explore how our bodies respond to other people, nature and the environments we inhabit. In this workshop, she invites participants to investigate movement through their own embodied experiences. 🪱

We are so happy to host this inclusive workshop at Mishro - we believe bodies of all kinds inherently have stories to tell. This is your sign to come find out what that could mean for you! 🫀

Day Two • 24 Oct • 10:00am-12:00pm

This workshop has limited spots, register by filling the google form through the link in our bio! 🌀

This much anticipated performance, is both moving and poignantly relevant to this time of great change that we find ourselves grappling with 🌊 Melitta Dsouza @melachi20 & Navin Kelamane @kelamane_navi will move together, asking what happens in the space between two bodies. How does change magnify, or transform from one second to the next, from one entity to the other? 🧬

Day Three • 25 Oct • 7:30-8:00pm
Please be seated 15 mins before we begin!

This performance is included in the festival ticket - we have day passes and full access available - open to all ages - children under 14 do not require a ticket to attend 🌀

The only way I know to raise my voice against things that are not right and whats going on in our country right now is absolutely not right .
Those who have been given power by the people have a responsibility and are accountable for how they exercise that power . They cannot be allowed to abuse it anymore.

I have been carrying these sentiments since a long time and have seen various instances over the past years . And these are very rightfully coming out in the art i create . Whats the point of being an artist if my art doesnt speak the realities of our time.

A piece i choreographed this year with my students for the independence day ( which i stopped celebrating long ago except this year) in solidarity with the people who protest and have had the courage to raise their voice against whats wrong.

Meet the faces behind the feet . Please do take 1 min extra to read caption
Yes the vision was mine but this film was brought to life only because of these beautiful people who completely believed in the idea and in me. Until It Ran Into Me has been getting a lot of love in festivals across the world and Im truly grateful. But this wasnt all me , it was this amazing team. Unfortunately some faces are missing here , dont have any pics. But i want to thank all you guys from the bottom of my heart for making this film what it is. ❤️

In a city like Bombay where artists have to fend for themselves having a community support like this is the greatest blessing. When artists come together like this just for the love of their art, it’s nothing but power. Just a reminder that we dont need to do things alone, its not a competition, we can carry each other forward together. But the responsibility is ours to stand up and show up for each other✨

I also thank Abhyuday and Vajrasara from @auroapaar_dancefilms for your constant love and support for the film. ❤️

It doesn’t ask who’s wearing it.
It just sets the tone.

Felt first. Noticed later.
