Two sentences I heard midway through this block that helped refocus my vision. WE NEED YOU. Don’t let the obstacles deter you.

Last weekend, I had the amazing privilege of attending The Houston Medical Forum’s Centennial Awards Celebration, a night celebrating 100 years of Houston’s association for Black Physicians.

The night was truly an ode to the pioneers of the Houston medical community, their impacts both local and abroad, and investing in the next generation of doctors. Fifteen medical students received a total of $75,000 in scholarships!

And the historic event was further captured through red carpet interviews of some of the night’s awardees and VIP guests. Thank you Dr. @alysia_kemp_md for the invitation to help bring your vision to life! And cheers to @houstonmedicalforum on 100 amazing years! 🥂

“I wrote “My dreams are valid” on the board in 2019, after being told multiple times that they were absurd. A few other people have used that board since I left home and no one erased it. I guess I wasn’t the only one who needed the reminder🤍

Also, “what about marriage” is still funniest question I got because what did that have to do with anything???”

Heyyyy MelanatedMeds! 🫶🏾✨

I still can’t believe I made it through my first 3 years of med school and entered my dedicated Step 1 era 😭📚

Life has definitely been LIFING in the interim, but this season has definitely taught me a lot.

What I wish I knew before starting Step 1 prep is that having the RIGHT resource changes everything.

Lately I’ve been using Med School Bootcamp for:
🧠 2000+ NBME-style Step 1 questions with detailed explanations
📹 High-yield videos that actually make hard concepts click
📝 Annotatable PDFs while watching lessons
🎬 Quick MedBites when I need rapid review
🤖 Bootcamp AI for all my random deep-dive questions
📊 Self-assessments + board breakdowns so I know what to focus on
📅 A Step 1 schedule generator that adapts to YOUR timeline

The q-bank especially surprised me because the questions feel so similar to the style of reasoning you see in NBME Step questions 👀

Dedicated has been challenging, but having a resource that keeps everything organized has made SUCH a difference.

She didn’t just MATCH into one of the most competitive specialties with only 56 positions in the US,

…but she also makes history as Northwestern University’s FIRST Black Cardiothoracic Surgery resident!!

We celebrate you and your perseverance, double Dr. Kambouris! 🙌🏾

“It’s official! I’m going to be someone’s doctor! 🥹🥹🥹 First Doctor job secured!

I’ve been sitting on this news since Monday, just in awe because at one point, this felt impossible. But God is ever sufficient.
🤍

Today, I found out where and it’s my top choice! 🥹

Dr. D. F. Angaye, Resident Physician loading 🩺✨

Last slide was sent out before I even received my Match email on Monday. It’s such a beautiful reminder of the faith and confidence my community has had in me even before I could see it for myself.

I’m so grateful. Love you all 🥹❤️
