Dictations - The Heart of the Sea 🫀🪸

Inspired by To My Coral Bones by Grace Nichols, the piece moves like the tide, reflecting on inheritance and what is carried across generations. It unfolds as an imagined island made together, breathing with slow, patient currents that carry fragments of story, sensation, and feeling beyond the individual body.

This premiere introduces the company’s unfolding vision, bringing a sensorial, embodied performance language to Scotland’s stages.

thank you

i have been spending long nights in deep deep reflection

your legacy is still very much present.

the tenacity of your facilitation. your constant strife for black peoples space, even with so much conflicted energy around you.

your truth. it was powerful.

not everyone values the seeds you plant but you must plant them

your confidence to dream, to test the ideas, is one of my favourite gifts. such great ideas, some laugh-out-loud moments, but still so great. thank you for consciously and purposefully creating experiences, social connections and opportunities for creativity. You knew how to maximise the resources you had.

it’s actually impressive, so creative.

this energy filled my childhood with joy, anguish, anxiety, risk. there was always so much happening. such abundance. so deeply felt.

many conversations, so much heat, so much desire. and soooo much cleaning, it felt like we were constantly cleaning our community space. we were really not into this but lesson must be learnt and places must be clean.

this is my inheritance.

your energy just keeps moving through and I am so thankful. It felt like such a ride. those times were significant

the loss of your physical presence has allowed me to tap into something new, wow this vibration is interesting.

i can hear and see inside my body how deeply my love is felt and now i am able to move to this new realm of love.

i’m left with an abundance of experience and values

this is my inheritance.

thank you, for just being you.

your last part of your life was extremely quick, but as you said, you knew you were loved and there is nothing else you could ask for in those last moments.

It has been an incredible journey with Body Remedy.

Founding the organisation with Zoe Tumika and developing with an ever evolving team has been a continual process of learning. Tumika your trust has been deeply meaningful to me

Every yearly iteration has shaped the organisation in different ways and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of that journey.

As I step away from my role I do so with much gratitude to the Body Remedy team. The new collaborative directorship Żżo Charlery & Kai Khidir Hassan brings a wealth of knowledge, care and vision. Your an inspiration

Feeling grateful to have had the opportunity to design the workshop programme with the Body Remedy team.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, collaborated, trusted and believed in the work over the years. It has been a privilege to be part of this.
