From Viking to Cougar.

Emeli Muagututi’a has officially signed with Chicago State University, where she will continue her academic and athletic career competing in indoor volleyball at the Division I level.

A key member of both our indoor and beach volleyball programs, Emeli helped lead the Vikings to undefeated conference championships and Final Four appearances in both indoor and beach during one of the most successful years in program history.

We are incredibly proud of everything she has accomplished and can’t wait to see what’s next. ✨

M🌀tunui Archives ‘24

Some moments in life don’t feel real until you stop and look back on them. Being part of the live action Moana is one of those moments for me. Growing up, I watched Moana and sang the entire soundtrack with so much pride. Never in a million years would I have believed that one day I’d be part of bringing that story to life. God truly has a way of exceeding every expectation.

I’m incredibly humbled to have shared this experience with such a talented cast and crew. I wish I had more pictures but I was probably asleep in a fale with a rock under my head iykyk😂. The memories we made on and off set are ones I’ll hold onto forever. There was so much joy, so much laughter, so much love, and so much pride. It truly was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

To Aunty @tiana_nonosina and Aunty @kay.faam , thank you for the countless ways you continue to pour into our people and create opportunities for us. Thank you for trusting in my brother and me, for opening doors we never imagined, and for reminding us that representation matters. We love you both so much, and we’re forever grateful.

This film is so much more than entertainment. It’s seeing our people portrayed with dignity, beauty, strength, and authenticity. I hope that every Pacific Islander who watches this movie sees a piece of themselves on that screen. I hope they see that their culture is something to be celebrated, their identity is something to be proud of, and their story deserves to be told. Our stories belong on the world’s biggest stages, told with authenticity, pride, and love. I’ll forever thank God for allowing me to be even the smallest part of something that means so much to so many. What an incredible blessing and a memory I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

Isalei Rotuma la gou se mao’akia
“My beloved Rotuma I will never forget”

Rotuma only takes up 17 square miles in the Pacific Ocean, but it stole my whole heart. This trip wasn’t just a visit to family, but a return home and to experience all of this with my entire family made it that much more special. I’ve heard stories about it my whole life, but nothing could have prepared me for the beauty of Rotuma. The pictures don’t even do it justice frl. So grateful to all the family that made this trip so unforgettable, but especially the children. Visiting the school and spending time with the kids was the highlight of my trip. I’ve learned so much through storytelling about my culture, my roots, and my names and the great history they hold. Especially grateful to be named after my grandmother Emeli. Although I’ve never met my Nana, being there made me feel closer to her than ever. by @meli.tia5
