A book can begin before you even realize you’re writing one.

For Melissa N. Wright, Of Pies and Men began with one sentence she couldn’t stop thinking about. She followed it into a cozy fall romance filled with friendship, baking, found family, kittens, and a love triangle.

In our conversation, we talk about building a novel from one idea, writing around a full-time job, choosing an independent publishing path, trusting your readers, and finding the courage to promote your own work.

Come with me to see my book at a bookstore!! 🤭🤭
It was so fun to take a lil trip with my husband and see my actual book on actual shelves at @phoenixbooksrutland! And we got to chat a bit with a couple of the people there, which was so lovely!
Thank you @lost_inthefind for always being my hype person! (I get social anxiety, so knowing he’s there as a steadying force when I start to ramble or glitch is such a comforting feeling. And having someone there to brag about your books when you’re too shy to tell people about them is also nice)😌
