A book can begin before you even realize you’re writing one.

For Melissa N. Wright, Of Pies and Men began with one sentence she couldn’t stop thinking about. She followed it into a cozy fall romance filled with friendship, baking, found family, kittens, and a love triangle.

In our conversation, we talk about building a novel from one idea, writing around a full-time job, choosing an independent publishing path, trusting your readers, and finding the courage to promote your own work.

One reminder stayed with me: You do not need to see the whole book before you begin. You only need to follow the idea that keeps calling you back to the page.

ARC | Review

Of Pies & Men by @melisiswriting was such a cozy and charming read! I had the wonderful opportunity to read it as an ARC🥧🤍

I absolutely loved the small-town feeling that carried throughout the entire book and followed Stewy through all the seasons. Ford Shore felt like such a lovely little place to get lost in.

Stewy moves to Ford Shore hoping for a quiet life, but things quickly become a lot more complicated when she accidentally finds herself caught in a love triangle that she can’t escape from quite as easily as she might have hoped.

Alongside all of this, she’s also trying to find her way as a writer, and I really enjoyed seeing her become more confident and encouraged to pursue that part of herself throughout the story.

I really enjoyed this book because it had the perfect amount of romance without making that the only focus. It also had so many moments that had me staring at the page like, wait… WHAT?! There were definitely a few moments that caught me completely off guard.

Overall, this was such a warm, cozy and fun romance with a lovely small-town atmosphere, charming characters and just the right amount of drama. Definitely a book I’d recommend if you’re looking for something cozy with romance, friendship and a little bit of chaos🤎

I rate the book with 4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
