The recent @icc Annual Conference has resulted in a lot of positive steps forward for the once contracted Afghanistan Women’s Cricketers. A new Taskforce structure, extended high performance funding and a view to include a representative team for 2030 T20 World Cup regional qualifiers. Lots of people to thank to get to this point. 2026 UK Summer - Part 1/3 - @t20worldcup
33 matches in 24 days, 3 crews, 7 cities, record crowds, it was manic but amazing. @kncbcricket impressed on debut, @cricketscotland Cricket Ireland with their first wins showed growing depth but also the need for continued support. To Maz, Richard and Kevin on stats thanks! Plus all the additional info from the team at @hawkeyeinnovations @cricviz and to groups like @foxcricket @hypocaust_ @cricinfo and @cricbuzz.

Loved meeting Afghanistan’s exiled women’s cricket team at @homeofcricket as they toured the UK with @englandcricket. Their unwavering refusal to give up their right to play cricket is an example to us all.

Calling on the @icc to recognise them as Afghanistan’s national women’s team. The Taliban must not win.
