MELO KAN: IRL | EPISODE 1 • DROP 3
MEET THE LITES. 🎤

Same truth. Different energy.

Melo Kan has always made what he calls life music. Music about the things we’ve lived, the lessons we’ve learned, and everything in between.

But with The Lites, he’s bringing another side of that storytelling. More personality. More fun. More reasons to turn the music up and enjoy life.

In this drop, Melo introduces the people behind The Lites and gives some well-deserved love to The Wylde Bunch, the incredible live band that brought the music to life during our Tiny Desk-style performances.

And they didn’t just show up. They showed OUT. 🔥

Real musicians. Real chemistry. The kind of sound you don’t just hear. You feel.

We’re bringing that feeling back to music.

COMING NEXT: Before you hear Infinite Wisdom, we’re getting into the story behind it. What inspired Melo to write it? What was he going through? And why did he need to say it?

Then we’ll let the music speak.

LIFE MUSIC. NOT JUST RAP.

FREEMYNDS STUDIOS PRESENTS: MELO KĀN IRL
EPISODE 1 | DROP 2 — LIFE MUSIC

Some rappers tell you what they have. Others tell you what they’ve lived.

Melo Kān calls what he creates “Life Music.”

The struggles. The victories. The mistakes. The lessons you don’t learn until life makes you pay attention.

This is hip-hop with something to say.

In Drop 2, we get into who Melo is as an artist, revisit his 2022 album EPU2: King Amongst Nikkas, and discuss the journey to his latest release, 2BH (To Be Honest) — available now.

But the music is only part of the story.

We’re introducing The Lites, a collective of artists bringing musicianship, storytelling, and live performance back to the forefront.

We’ve already filmed an intimate, Tiny Desk-inspired performance, and we’re beginning to release three songs from 2BH.

And in the final drop of this episode, we’re taking you inside “Infinite Wisdom” — the music, the meaning, and the mind behind it.

Because sometimes the most important reason to create isn’t the money.

It’s getting what’s inside you out into the world.

The conversation is just the beginning. The music is coming to life.

SOME THINGS YOU CREATE FOR MONEY. OTHERS YOU CREATE BECAUSE YOUR SOUL WON’T LET YOU KEEP THEM INSIDE. 👑

FREEMYNDS STUDIOS × MELO KĀN: IRL | EPISODE 001
Infinite Wisdom: The Art of Doing It for Yourself.

Before the stages. Before the streams. Before the next big opportunity… there’s the reason we started creating in the first place.

We took it back to something simple: an early morning in Redondo Beach, fishing with family, catching up with an old friend, and having the kind of conversations that remind you why art matters.

Melo Kān pulled up to spend the morning with Millard, Dannay, Mansa, and cousin Raymond as we prepare for the next chapter of his musical journey.

And what started as a fishing trip turned into a conversation about purpose, perseverance, creative freedom, and the wisdom that only comes from living.

We get into Melo’s latest album, 2BH (To Be Honest), introduce his collective The Lites, and explore the story and creative process behind “Infinite Wisdom,” including an intimate live performance from our Tiny Desk-inspired sessions.

But the most important part of this episode isn’t about an album.

It’s about understanding that your art doesn’t always have to make you money to be worth making.

Sometimes you write because you need to heal. Sometimes you create because you have something to say. Sometimes the reward is simply knowing you didn’t leave your gift buried inside you.

We’ve been making music videos and telling stories together since 2014. Now we’re opening a new chapter, bringing the cameras into real life, and inviting you along as we build toward new music, live shows, and everything still ahead.

No manufactured moments. No industry masks. Just family, friendship, music, and the truth.

Many things come with this life, and grief is undoubtedly one of the major challenges. How do we effectively deal if we are suppressing? How can we heal if we’re staying busy and ignoring? How have you personally dealt with grief? Maybe your words can help some one push thru 👇🏿. With love, always. by @melokan

As you live a lil bit and grow some, maybe you realize things aren’t always about you. That person that cut you off, that rude person at the store, the troll online, etc. these people don’t know you, yet we internalize these experiences personally. What if we took ourselves out of it and just saw the experience for what it was. Learning to respond and not react so much. How yall doin out there? 🖤 by @melokan
