Awakening last semester changed and truly saved my life in ways I still struggle to put into words. Because of that, coming back to help work it wasn’t a choice it was a calling. This chapter has truly grown me into the person I am today. I came here as a scared 18 year old who barely knew anybody, and the only time I had ever been here was for Orientation. I had no clue what my life was about to turn into.
Joining Gamma Phi Beta has truly been one of the biggest blessings in my life. It helped me find my place at Nicholls, gave me confidence, and taught me that I was capable of so much more than I ever thought. It made me want to lead, pushed me outside of my comfort zone, and helped me discover things about myself that I never knew were there. It challenged me, helped me grow, and most of all, gave me so many beautiful friendships . Friendships I know will last a lifetime.
Although it hasn’t always been easy, I am truly so grateful that I joined this chapter and that I was given the opportunity to become the woman I am today because of it.
To all the girls going through recruitment, my biggest piece of advice is to keep an open mind. You truly never know where life is going to lead you. I went into recruitment knowing exactly what I wanted, and it didn’t happen the way I thought it would. But I kept an open mind, trusted the process, and somehow ended up in the best place I ever could have been. A place where our philanthropy is building strong girls and that is what I truly needed. I need to learn how to be a strong girl and help support other strong women, but little did I know our philanthropy partner was something that impacted my life so much as a child Girls On The Run.
