A huge thank you to Jessica Payne for joining our book club over the weekend to discuss Somebody Worth Killing and all things Nadia! It was such a pleasure hearing about the inspiration behind Nadia, the writing process and all the behind the scene details that brought this wonderful story to life. We loved the opportunity to ask questions and dive deeper into a book that sparked so many discussions in our group. We recommend checking this one out if you enjoy assassin thrillers or want to try something new that doesn’t stray too far from the typical psychological thriller. Maple Brook is officially the ultimate cozy fall town, and I am ready to pack my bags and move there immediately. Then Until Forever was such a fun, refreshing read. Avery spent four years convincing herself she was completely over Jax, the guy who shattered her heart at eighteen. She was fine! Moving on! Mind-ing her business! That is, until Jax had the sheer audacity to move back to town, into her exact apartment complex, and right into her social circle. Cue the delicious, excruciatingly slow-burn agony. And when Avery needs a date for her brother’s wedding? Naturally, asking the ex who broke her heart seems like the most logical decision. You already know the chaotic second-chance goodness that follows! What really made this story hit for me was how delightfully real and flawed the characters felt. They weren’t picture-perfect; they made actual human choices and had believable emotions that made it so easy to root for them. Plus, the friend group was elite—constantly roasting each other to pieces, but riding for each other when it mattered most. And look, I love Avery and Jax, but Sir Fluffington the cat easily stole the entire show. True main character energy. If you want a cozy fall romance that perfectly balances laugh-out-loud humor with characters who feel like people you’d hang out with in real life. 🍁 SEPTEMBER WRAP-UP 🍁 Heartbreak, Highs & 63 Books Later September hit like a freight train, bringing big life shifts, heavy emotions, and the kind of schedule where you barely have time to catch your breath. Watching my nieces and nephew—who are genuinely like my own kids—navigate major milestones (Maya in college 〽️, Kiran through a hard season, and Lalita in high school) meant my heart was stretched in every direction. Between a crazy schedule stacked with work, volunteering, sports, and family time, this month was a wild rollercoaster of wins, losses, and pure survival. But amid all the transition, autumn showed up right on time. We kicked off the season with our first apple orchard trip, fall cabin weekends, crisp football games, and a truly absurd amount of reading. The Highs: 🍎 Maya texting me to hang out - there is no better feeling than your college freshman wanting to spend time with you. 🥹 🍂 Buddy reads with @bookish.madz @bbookednbusyy @travel.b00ks @imbringingabook - gonna say it again, it’s the absolute best part of my month and my favorite way to “read”! 🍎 Beginning of fall, Witches Brew, cabin trips & football 🍂 Deepening community connections that, at this point are way more than books and have turned into genuine friendships, including brilliant local Minnesota authors @authorcaitcarlson @wrotebysedona @emma.pathy.author The Low: 🌧️ Is and will always be, September 11th—a day that hits so different for me because of an immediate loss.
