After 12 incredible years, Menagerie Farm & Flower is entering a new season. What began as a dream to grow and share beautiful roses became a community rooted in beauty, gardening, and connection. To everyone who planted one of our roses, attended a workshop, visited the nursery, or simply followed along here—thank you. I’ve made the decision to wind down our retail shop so I can focus on growing flowers at scale for the wholesale market and spend more time writing, teaching, and consulting through The Menagerie Academy. As we close this chapter, I hope you’ll find a few final treasures for your home and garden. The entire store is now on sale, and our final day of retail sales will be July 17. Standard return policies remain in effect through June 17. Please visit our Help Center for important dates and policy details. This isn’t goodbye but it’s simply a new season, and I can’t wait to share what’s growing next. With gratitude - Felicia by @menagerieflower
Hey there! 👋🏻 It’s Felicia the head farmer around here. Many new folks joining me this week so I thought it would be a good time to show my face around here & say hi. 💃🏼 This is my 26th year year farming. Where did the time go? My farming friends affectionally call me “seasoned” now. 🌱 My farm is nestled at the base of the Sutter Buttes in the Sacramento Valley of California. I specialize in growing cut garden roses, assorted specialty cut flowers, French prunes, nuts and rice on over 100 acres of beautiful California farmland. 🪴I also have a small nursery specializing in garden roses both bare root in the winter & potted year round. 📚 I have degrees Crop Science & Agricultural Business and I’m finding the older I get the more I love sharing my knowledge and teaching others about farming & gardening. 💧My favorite farm tool is my soil tensiometer. I know a crazy ton of usually useless information about prunes but I’m always a hit at parties with my prune trivia. 📖 I wrote a book, Growing Wonder, about how to grow beautiful cut garden roses. It’s approachable for all levels of rose lovers from beginner to professional flower farmer. 🇺🇸 I am the Chair of the Board for @americangrownflowers a non-profit organization that champions domestic cut flower production. It’s a cause I am passionate about because I believe in preserving the viability of all American flower farms. 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 I live on my farm with my husband, who is not a farmer but a guy from the Southern California suburbs and two boys ages 11 & 8 years. I count their years by the number of harvest seasons and when I look back at photos in this post I see how much they’ve grown, just like the farm. 🏖️When I’m not busy farming I love to golf and sit in a lounge chair preferably on a beach in Hawaii. I’m so glad you’re here! So tell me a little about you! Leave a message in the comments.⬇️ by @menagerieflower

Walking through the ferneries and tree lined groves in Florida this week was nothing short of magical. With moss draped from the trees and layers of green in every direction, it feels a little like stepping into a real-life scene from Avatar. I spent a wonderful afternoon at @ferntrustinc with the Register family, who were such gracious hosts. One of my favorite things about farming is visiting other farms. I love walking the fields and talking with the people who know the land best. I always leave with a deeper appreciation for the place, the crop, and the work behind it. From the quality of the product and cold chain management to the innovation in their packaging and the care their entire team brings to production, it was impressive from beginning to end. Thank you to my friends @greensguy and @vregister for sharing your world with me. by @menagerieflower

July wrap part 2. Disney World over the 4th of July.🏰🍿🌴🏊‍♂️🧨 I hadn’t been to Walt Disney World since 6th grade, so when the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) Symposium brought me to Orlando I figured why not bring the family along and celebrate America’s big 250th. We braved the heat - rode so many rides, ate our weight in slushies, lounged at the pool and watched fireworks and it was really, truly magical. But because this is my life, it couldn’t just be magical. One of the kids came down with flu A. Picture my husband talking to Teladoc from the hotel room and taking an Uber to Walmart on the 4th of July to pick up a prescription. Luckily with bed rest the little guy made a quick recovery. And a few days later lost a tooth in the middle of a ride. He thinks it’s good luck and a part of him will always be in Epcot now, and honestly I love that for him as he’s an Epcot stan. We also visited with some of my husband’s old colleagues from his days at Disney. It was so great to catch up with old friends and their very big kids! And then there were birthdays! Both of my boys are July babies so this month was full of candles and cake between our family trip and back home on the farm. For those of you who have followed me for a long time and watched them since their toddling days running around the farm, they are getting so big. Every milestone birthday hits a little different as a mom. Watching them become the people they’re going to be is the best thing I get to do. July, you were three lifetimes in one month and I loved every sweaty, chaotic, cake-filled minute of it. If you have Disney World questions, DM me. I don’t have it all figured out since this was my first time going as an adult, but I’m happy to share the things our family enjoyed. You will have to pry my neck fan off of me!🎢 by @menagerieflower
July wrap part 1. July felt like three lifetimes in one month. We closed our retail shop, and while that chapter was hard to say goodbye to I loved seeing so many customers and friends come out to the nursery. Thank you to everyone who chatted with me, shared some tears and gave me hugs. Meanwhile, the roses kept blooming through high heat because that’s what they do. I’m endlessly proud of what we’re growing out here. I also had the chance to attend the annual AIFD symposium in Orlando and wow. The floral designers of this world are something else. I left so inspired and reminded of why I fell in love with flowers in the first place. @hannekefrankema was a highlight to watch create. And then there’s the other side of farm/work life. A kid on the Kubota helping me clear out the nursery for our final weekend and flying his new rc birthday plane over the field with his brother. July you were wonderful in all of the best ways. If you want to know what it’s like to brave Walt Disney World over the 4th of July just wait for my next post…🥵 by @menagerieflower
Happy Father’s Day to the dad behind the Menagerie! Grateful to be raising our two boys and growing this life on and off the farm together. Wishing all of the dads out there a lovely day! by @menagerieflower
Easter then and now.🐇 2020 ➡️ 2026 on the farm. Time files, they grow and pick their own outfits. I just adore the memories at pop up on my phone. What doesn’t change is we still race barefoot in the grass around the roses and I leave my camera behind to enjoy the moment. It was a beautiful day. by @menagerieflower
Goodnight farm… It’s my favorite time of year when everything is just starting to bloom. Tulips, peaches and prunes all popped this week. by @menagerieflower
February…you were busy in all of the best ways. My favorite magnolia tree in bloom. Checking on the @americangrownflowers in the stores for Valentine’s Day. The end of basketball season for both boys with Dad and big brother filling in as the coach & assistant coach for the last game. ‘Wollerton Old Hall’ leafing out after winter pruning outside my office window. Motorcycle racing in Buttonwillow. A very WET visit to Disneyland. Some golf watching at the Riv. by @menagerieflower
Roses are red, violets are fine… but let’s be honest, I know you really want roses all the time! Happy Valentine’s Day from me and the roses too!😉🌹❤️ by @menagerieflower
