I may yet add more stitches to the binding to try and make it look less fuzzy, but the dog toy is looking considerably better than it did. Although I did the additional work yesterday evening, I’m posting it for #MondayMending @MendsAndFriends as today has mostly been about getting home 🚘

#mondaymending I heard it ‘go’ as I reached across to turn off the bedside light. The underarm of my night/tee shirt had ripped.
Fortunately I had already saved a suitable patch of white cotton jersey when I repaired the underarm on the other side. It was pinned and stitched to the inside and then the hole edges on the outside were stitched to the new patch. Not very visible from the outside and looking a bit like a vintage dress shield on the inside!

First official cafe mend!💀🩵💙
A suitably spooky seasonal patch (courtesy of @duchofwez) to hide a stain from god knows what on a new tshirt - natch🙄
Happy to have made it here even tho it did turn out to be an endo day😖(have hot water bottle - will travel)
And good to meet some of the menders, and menders-to-be of Ktown. Might even be back next weekend…who’s in for the 17th?!

Time out from end of year accounts to sit in the glorious October sun and patch up a very old @surfersagainstsewage t-shirt. Both armpits now sporting colourful patches and there was the opportunity for a couple of porthole mends too!

(If you fancy jazzing up your armpits remember I take mending commissions 😉)

I’m posting the before first for a change because I’m not sure you can tell that I have spent two mornings working on this commission!

This dog toy has been attacked by two puppies, and the owner of one of them is heartbroken. The toy belonged to his first puppy, so, for sentimental reasons, it is to be returned to as near as possible to its original state! It is made of a very plastic corduroy lookalike, backed with a plastic knit, and they are now covered in teeth marks. Both ears are torn, and the plastic binding is frayed in several places…

A power cut yesterday morning, and a car service this morning means I have made a start…

Doodle update for my @mendsandfriends
A fab little video from @yuen_embroidery_art showed me how to get around those pulled edges I was complaining about at our Sept meetup - horizontal stitches to take some of the strain at the outer edge and half way into the petals
Seriously geeky stuff I know but love that you guys get it😂

I sewed my 2nd washcloth for Cielito Lindo. I decided to sew them because I was not been able to find any 100% cotton at the store. Sophia asked for washclothes appropriate for her size🫠 so I used her baby washcloth as a pattern.
Material: white terry cloth from a local craft store (the only color they carry).
I dyed the material with avocado pits.
Zig zag edges with the sewing machine. Hand sewn brown cotton twill tape that i bought at an estate sale sewn in place using brown universal thread than I used my cotton avocado dyed embroidery thread to sew the twill tape to the cloth and 2nd hand embroidery floss for decorating one side of the twill tape.
