Living and working in the middle of a pandemic as an international student was nothing short of a nightmare. The best way to live through this experience was following all the safety measures and most importantly indulging in activities that kept my mental health in check by talking to my friends and family back home, learning to cook, picking up new hobbies like makeup, blogging and meditating. This photo was taken last summer on a solo camping trip, marking day 1 of "dating myself". I never felt like I fit in with the gay community here in the city, I have always had a hard time finding connections with like minded individuals and through the struggles I lost who I was. Although this pandemic isn't ideal, it gifted us the opportunity to slow down and reconnect with who we are and what we want out of life. I hope this great pause has helped you as it has helped me. Stay true to yourself and always honour your heart ✌ #loveyourjourney

I think one of my greatest lessons learned is in trying to become more resilient. I grew up in a small town, had a shy and awkward disposition, kept my sexual orientation a secret, and was not rich by any means. I knew I had to stay motivated and get myself to where I wanted to be, be it academically, career-wise, and socially. I’m proud to say that I graduated with high distinction from #UofT, finished a master’s degree, and I was accepted to both law and medical school this year. Happy to be pursuing #law at #Osgoode. Moving to #Toronto helped me to come out of my shell and to be the happy and extroverted guy I knew I was.❤️

This year I’m thankful for new beginnings some times a door close but that’s only because there’s a better path opening up. Keep your head up friends and cheers to many more years to come.

#HelloNeighbour Hope you are doing well.
Whenever there is a “block” on your road find alternative route. And this is especially accurate nowadays with everything going on. I know it first hand when I had to pause a career of 13 years and take a new fresh start in financial industry.
One thing I learned, and I am sure I am not alone on that, is to never give up, always keep pushing, because it doesn’t matter how long the tunnel is, there will be always light in the end of it.

Occasionally you forget the main reason you're doing what you do.

Almost 5 years ago I decided to leave everything behind and start a new adventure.

I'm so grateful to have had the courage and take that decision. Now I can say, that I love my job!

Hello Neighbours. That optimistic pessimist that just cares too much for the people close to him. If love was money I would be rich. I am motivated by loved ones (family/friends) to strive to constantly be a better person. I have high morals and a great network of friends from all over the world. Finally found my person after years of being an endless romantic. Trying to work on myself mentally and physically as we go through lockdowns so that I have something positive to look back on. Oh and I’m Jamaican raised so I’m going to tell you as it is;)
