2026. The year of AI 🤮

It’s also the year we have been more involved in the community than ever. And honestly, that’s been the best part.

I use AI. My business uses AI. But I’ve been watching what it’s doing to us and I don’t love it.

People using it as their therapist, doing hard conversations so they don’t have to, doing work they never learned how to do. Racing to check things off without caring if they’re any good.

A new rat race is here, and the prize is just more tasks.

Here’s where I’ve landed: let it handle the spreadsheet. Never let it handle the people.

Write your own apology, even if it’s messy. Call your friend instead of venting in a chat. Do the hard thinking yourself sometimes, even when a shortcut is sitting right there.

The faster everything gets the more valuable it becomes to be the person who still shows up, in real life, with real effort.

Three Hyrox races in. Each one has been so different.

2026 threw a LOT at us. Some of the biggest ups and biggest downs. Even from a physical standpoint I was injured more than I wasn’t and found out a week before my race I needed an iron infusion immediately because my ferritin was so low. All to say conditions weren’t optimal. (Actually writing this as I get the infusion done)

I completely lost the reason I even signed up for the race in the first place and with nothing guiding me I felt disconnected. But disconnected in what is one of the best communities for connection so I knew answers would come.

The day of Mike’s solo (2 days before our race) my phone blew up. People wanted updates, sending good luck, tracking his progress and alllll the congratulatory messages. Of course I was so incredibly proud of him but also so proud of the people we have surrounded ourselves with.

I talked to Mike the morning of our race asking “why are we doing this?” Like what is the goal for today? Just do it? Could have been a reasonable goal considering my health. He was fine with that but it took about 1 minute for me to change my mind and say “actually, we need to beat Ottawa time.” So the plan turned to him doing more stations so I could run, hard. Whatever hard I had in me. (Which was a total mystery.)

So that’s what we did. Mike on a body battery of 28. Me on legs I thought were broken or close to. No iron. How bad could this be? 😅

But we did it. We beat our time because Mike is a beast. I raced at a pace that I’m typically better than but that was my 100%.

But the real win. Watching 50+ friends compete. Literally surround each other with encouragement. Seeing some get PBs, some podiums, new divisions, some first time crossing the finish line. Some even came just to support and not race.

Between F45s, Hyrox training and run clubs the people are the real trophy.🏆

A week at @clubmed_quebeccharlevoix filled our cups!

Big shout out to Aqua Mike for allowing us to join on your trip. We followed the rules (this time) and didn’t participate in Aqua fit or even come near the pool but I’m not sure how long we can keep this promise.

We filled ours days instead with yoga, circus school, biking, hiking, Pilates, great food and incredible views. taken in Club Med Québec Charlevoix by @meredithawolf

“Good, you?”

I don’t believe you.

That’s usually how it goes. I ask, they give the default answer, I call it out, and then we actually talk.

My favourite people do the same thing back to me. Because I give the default answer too. And they don’t let me.

Work is a mess. The kid situation is a lot. Someone did something they regret and will say so out loud. Me included.

Nobody’s trying to fix anybody. We’re just there.

So many people you’d assume are fine are getting put through it right now. You’d never know.
