Reaching the age of 35 is a unique milestone in life. For me, it often feels like I deviated from the expected path, yet I have accomplished many things, but still somehow feel I am behind. That’s life I guess. This year, I decided to celebrate my birthday alone. I spent an extended weekend with Daphne, exploring the breathtaking beauty of Door County. I talked with many locals and loved learning about the wonders of Wisconsin. The previous weekend, my parents visited, and we enjoyed delicious meals at supper clubs and visited Devils Lake. Throughout my life, I’ve moved multiple times, but this recent transition stands out. It’s been an adjustment but I’m learning more about myself every single day. I’m in a phase of growth, learning, and honing my skills. It feels like just yesterday I was embarking on the journey of life, and now I’m fully immersed in it, with the intention of continuing this path for many years to come. I’m grateful for the thoughtful messages and birthday wishes. Here’s to making 35 an extraordinary year! by @meredithhacklertv

Daphne is officially ten! She’s been my rock through the past decade, joining me in five cities, seven different apartments, and countless adventures. To call her my soul dog is a bit of an understatement. She’s sassy, sweet, smart, and incredibly loyal. It’s a privilege to be her owner. She’s not just my sidekick; she’s a lifeline for my mental health. Moving around so much isn’t easy, especially the last one. We’re still getting used to Wisconsin, but the best part is having her around, I’m never truly alone. Our routine might change, and so might our surroundings, but having each other is constant. PERSONAL NEWS: “Journalism is the first rough draft of history.” It’s one of my favorite quotes. Over the past four years here in Indianapolis, I have covered my fair share of historic moments. From Indiana becoming one of the first states to ban abortion following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, to a redistricting battle that garnered national attention, and of course we cannot forget the Pacers’ historic NBA Finals run. As the Statehouse wraps up its final week of session, this will be the last Indiana Statehouse session I cover. My last day at WRTV is March 16.

Working in Indianapolis has truly been a dream come true. I grew up coming to this city regularly as a kid and always dreamed of living here. I want to sincerely thank each one of you for trusting me with your stories and for trusting me to deliver facts about important policy topics. To everyone who has tuned in and interacted with me, thank you. I am incredibly grateful for the support you have shown me over the years.

While this chapter is ending, a new one is on the horizon. I am excited to announce that I have accepted a new position at CBS 58 in Milwaukee. I will be their chief political reporter, leading political coverage at the Capitol as well as during election season. As many of you know, Wisconsin is a swing state, some would say the swing state to watch during elections. I am thrilled to continue my journalism career as a political reporter, and I hope you will follow along as my journey continues in a new state. by @meredithhacklertv
