"Getting close to a glacier is often a journey in itself. With the ice retreating further into the mountains, the approaches are getting longer. Reaching the high plateaus and witnessing the most beautiful evening light is what makes you go out there. Having a comfortable backpack made those long days of exploring and photographing feel effortless, with the Helios along for the entire journey." โ€” @merelklomp_ Stay outside longer. Moments like this donโ€™t happen by chance ๐Ÿ’ซ Last year we traveled into northern Sweden. On our first day, we were fortunate to witness a very rare natural phenomenon: stratospheric polar clouds. Subtle, unreal, and gone fast. They form 15โ€“25โ€ฏkm up in the stratosphere and only appear on the coldest polar winter days. We werenโ€™t fully prepared for it. Later that week we headed farther north to shoot remote winter landscapes. We didnโ€™t expect the sky to light up again, but this time we were ready. Moments like this donโ€™t happen by chance; you have to be out there, exploring, chasing light, and waiting for your opportunity. Those moments defined the trip. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Stratospheric Cloud series now on show โ˜๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ taken in Sweden - Scandinavia by @merelklomp_

What started in 2018 witnessing a collapsing glacier grew into The Glacier Project: a visual exploration of the beauty and fragility of Europeโ€™s glaciers. From the Norwegian wilderness to the ice fields of Iceland: alongside their stunning visuals, they share the story behind them. What drives them, and how do you film and photograph far below freezing? Sign up through the link in bio! taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @merelklomp_

After hours of elevation loaded with equipment, together with @elmarjanse we finally reached the foot of the Bossons Glacier just as the light turned perfect, the kind of fleeting glow you hope for but can never fully plan. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ It became one of those autumn days in Chamonix that stays with you. The effort it takes to reach a place like this shapes the story behind the images, adding meaning to the work you bring home. Even the descent that carried us deep into the night felt like part of the creative process. ๐Ÿ’™ Slide 2. A tired but fulfilled self-portrait ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ taken in Chamonix, France by @merelklomp_

Join us on our ongoing glacier photography project as we visit several countries in Europe.๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ—ป Our latest trip to Iceland was an extraordinary experience capturing the glaciers and their braided rivers from the window of a cessna. The fractal patterns and changing colours are something that can only be seen from a higher perspective, making this an exceptional opportunity. ๐Ÿ’ซ As photographers/artists, we feel the need to capture the sublime beauty and transience of nature and bring it to a larger audience.
