Lovely to have finally taken a trip to see With Limitations, an exhibition by @designeverything_org at @aramgalleryldn, and see our CONCHA Embroidure Pendant Lights amongst such an incredible range of work✨

CONCHA Embroidure brings together our practices of lighting design and hand embroidery. Each paper shade is individually embroidered by @thatsewnicole , with the free-hand stitchwork inspired by the dynamic movements of players in a football game, transforming the folded surfaces of CONCHA through embroidery.

The collaboration grew from working alongside one another in our shared studio and exploring what we could create using the materials, processes and skills already around us, making it feel particularly at home within With Limitations.

Still on view until 10 October, With Limitations explores how constraints across space, budget, time, materials and access to equipment can become catalysts for creativity, resourcefulness and new ways of making.

So much to discover throughout the exhibition, and we loved seeing how everyone responded to the theme in their own way.

With many new faces joining us over the past few months, we felt it was about time to reintroduce ourselves and share a little glimpse into what we’ve been creating in the studio ✨

Led by founder and lighting designer-maker Riya Panchal, MESEME is a London-based design and manufacturing studio, creating atmospheric sculptural lighting that balances expressive form with refined craftsmanship. Approaching light as both material and emotion, the studio creates pieces that allow for personalisation while maintaining a sense of playfulness and quiet presence.

We design and create for interiors that value atmosphere, materiality, and narrative - beyond illumination. As a studio, we find great joy in making, assembling, and hand-finishing each piece in-house before carefully packing every light to be sent to its new home.

Thrilled to also be showing two of our CONCHA Embroidure Pendant Lights at @aramgalleryldn as part of With Limitations, an exhibition by @designeverything_org ✨

Developed and crafted together in our shared studio space at @blackhorsews, CONCHA Embroidure brings our respective practices of lighting design and hand embroidery together. What began during a period of uncertainty, limited resources and time became a genuine creative exchange, resulting in a collection neither of us would have developed independently.

Our CONCHA Embroidure Pendant Light in Metallic Threads and a Brushed Aluminium finish✨

Commissioned as part of ‘The Ethel’, an immersive apartment residence at @thehilight_battersea , a waterfront luxury development in Battersea, designed and styled by @houseofhoney

Created in collaboration with embroidery artist Nicole Chui, the pendant light reinterprets our sculptural paper lighting through intricate metallic thread-work, bringing together soft illumination, tactile detail, and quiet ornamentation. Inspired by the fluid movement and shifting formations of players across a football pitch, the embroidered surface subtly catches and reflects light, adding depth, rhythm, and a gentle sense of luminosity to the piece.

Inspired by writer and political activist Ethel Mannin, the space unfolds in a darker, more contemplative register. Sculptural forms, layered textures, and moments of unexpected colour shape an interior that feels introspective rather than performative.

Introducing MORA Collection 💫

Dex Vallon and I are thrilled to introduce the MORA Floor Lamp and Table Light.

MORA began as a private commission and quickly evolved into a shared design language, bringing together our respective approaches, creating pieces that sit between functional lighting and sculptural object.

Developed through an iterative process of making, testing, and refining, the collection explores the relationship between monolithic hardwood forms and soft, sculpted paper structures. While the hardwood provides structure, permanence, and presence, the paper introduces lightness, movement, and atmosphere through tension, fold, and illumination.

Handcrafted and made to order by furniture designer-maker Dex Vallon of @atelierkorbo and lighting designer-maker Riya Panchal of @mesemestudio ✨

Our MARSHA 02 Pendant Light
in Honey Amber Glass and Brushed Brass finish ✨

Inspired by writer and political activist Ethel Mannin, the space unfolds in a darker, more contemplative register. Sculptural forms, layered textures, and moments of unexpected colour shape an interior that feels introspective rather than performative.

Our MARSHA 02 Pendant Light introduces a warm, atmospheric glow to the space. Combining a softly illuminated spherical orb with a delicate conical shade, the fixture appears to float effortlessly beside the bed.

Honey amber glass and brushed brass tones sit comfortably amongst the rich palette of colours, textiles and patterns, creating a gentle focal point within the room.
