Shout out to the @okcthunder for donating tickets to our Walking School Bus students to celebrate their attendance! ⚡️🏀🧡

Our Burroughs & Tisdale students earned it with 90%+ attendance first quarter. We pre-gamed at Thunder UP on the Green, then caught the OKC Thunder’s annual Tulsa preseason game at BOK Center. Huge thanks to the students and families who keep showing up. 🎉🧡

Good morning from Jerry, G, and the Walking School Bus! ☀️ We’re so proud of little Jerry this morning for joining Walking School Bus for the first time. It’s been a hard transition for him starting school (Pre-K) this year and being away from Mom, but Mom & our team have taken baby steps to get to this day. He even made a friend with little Azzy! 🧡

Meet G. 🧡

We’re thrilled to welcome our new Community Partnerships Manager to the Met Cares team. G comes to us with a track record of building programs from the ground up, connecting communities to resources, and making data tell a human story. They’ve supervised community engagement teams at the Tulsa Health Department, coordinated youth health programs across four TPS high schools, and served as a freelance correspondent for KOSU’s Focus: Black Oklahoma.

G will be developing and managing the partnerships that make sure our Tisdale and Burroughs families have what they need to thrive. We’re so glad you’re here, G. 🎉

Follow us to keep up with their work and see more from our growing team!

You know what they say about couples who ‘crossing guard’ together… they get kids across the street and safely to school. 😝🦺🧡 Shout out to @anabodyhome and @wireless_vibes for volunteering & showing up for Burroughs Elementary kids this week. 🙏🏾

It’s giving big village energy. 🧡 Dr. Ray Owens, Met Cares board member & founder and pastor at @metchurchtulsa, showed up this morning to volunteer as crossing guard at Burroughs Elementary because our kids STILL need someone at that crosswalk. We’re working with the city to find a more permanent solution. In the meantime, thank you, @revrayspeaks!
