Really excited that this big fella (approx 84”h x 112”L) is heading to the @zuckerman_museum for a show later this summer. I’ve worked on this painting for nearly 3 years and nice to see it finished. Thanks to @cnt_curatorial for the invitation 🥰 and @see4eva for his help making a b@dass crate 🙌 and @kes_efs for his 📸 skillz 🫶

Finished up a great trip to Maine and Boston to visit with an amazing group of artists! Thnx to @e_atterbury @novabeck @meghanbrady @econover @mmeghahn @h.irons.h @breehanjames @kaylamohammadi @imagesofwork Special Thanks to @johnwalkerpainter for opening his home and studio; as well as @strayingthepath for their hospitality in Boston. I’m gonna miss The Standard Baking Co. being right next door, but my waistline is happy 🤣.

Went to church on Friday… it doesn’t get much better than the Stedelijk. Their install, exhibition design, curatoration, and collection are top notch. Have enough for 5 posts. *** what I’ll miss just as much as any museum is the food at The Lebanese Sajeria. Went everyday for lunch ❤️🙌 by @methan18

Anytime you can spend time in the Rijksmuseum it’s worth a journey. The canals of Amsterdam and the Gallery of Honour are rejuvenating. It’s easy to see how people fall in love with the light and pace of the city.

Antwerp is lovely. It was delightful to wonder the city check out their Royal Museum, meet with artists, and visit with galleries. Big thanks to @deboergallery and @tiktak_be for being great hosts! I can’t wait to return to the city and soak of more of its charm 🥰 by @methan18

I had the great privilege to spend the last 5 weeks with 15 outstanding students. Their curiosity, engagement, intellect, humor and kindness was rejuvenating. It’s folks like them that give me faith in the future of Art, Design, and humanity. Big shout out to my collaborator and partner in crime @breemcmahon Amidst the heat and site visits— she never failed to bring joy the whole group. There’s too many students to list, but THANK YOU! With great sadness I share that Mildred (Millie) passed away on Thursday afternoon. She’d battled cancer for many years and often had tumors removed which necessitated her wearing my shirts. On Wednesday, a tumor on her spleen ruptured causing internal bleeding in her abdomen. During surgery they determined the cancer spread to her liver. Knowing that her life would be short and painful, we made the decision to not resuscitate. This was a difficult decision, especially since I was halfway across the world. I’m truly heartbroken. Not being able to say goodbye and be with her at the end weighs heavy, but I know she was surrounded by those who loved her greatly.
She was my everything. We were together through ups and downs; and it was just us two during COVID. I take comfort in knowing that she was loved by many. For the past 8 years, she’s experienced tremendous love from family, friends, and students. I am grateful.
Please be patient with me as I navigate life without my partner; and if she’s impacted you— thanks for being a part of our lives. ❤️🐾❤️ by @methan18

@methan18 was the first person I knew to buy an iPhone. But like me, he grew up in the 80s and remembered all that analogue stuff. As a painter and printmaker, his palette and shapes have drawn upon sources from that decade, with his native Florida also exerting itself. In his generous talk @massartboston, he shared his range of sources, which more recently have included “failed avant-gardes,” tile mosaics in Italy, and the landscapes and light of Wyoming. It has been a pleasure to see Marc’s work progress over time, and for him to share that with students. taken in Massachusetts College of Art and Design by @methan18
