I wanted to share this new piece that I've been working on for a while and also my good news of becoming an Iowa Artist Fellow! Support from the Iowa Arts Council and the Iowa Economic Development Authority have made this new work possible, along with some other things I've been dreaming of!

I'm so grateful for the support of the folks making it happen, Elizabeth Ferreira, David Schmitz, Brooke Rogers, and Brittany Brooke Crow, among others.

Also biggest congrats to my cohort of #Iowaartistfellows whom I had the pleasure to meet a few weeks ago in Muscatine! @nicholascladis @kelly.devitt @jasonjsnell @eloydanza

The grant helped to put some wind in my sails to get some much needed tools, equipment and supplies, which all fed into this work, and it marks a new direction I hope to keep exploring.

I’ve been working on my first ever artist book in the form of a wearable smock. The first run has been printed, and we’re running through the pattern, which is a #folkwearpatterns from the 70s- the French Cheesemaker’s Smock. There will be an edition of 20

I am so grateful to the people who have helped me with making this happen through all the conversations, support and ideas. I’ll provide more updates but wanted to express my gratitude and excitement so far!

A new piece emerging from my fellowship year as an #iowaartistfellow

The grant has been helped me to purchase new equipment and tools I have been curious about, intimidated by, dreaming of, and then wield them in my own wood falling on my head, hands and knees looking for chipped-off piece type of way. I’m an awkward learner, but do take all the precautions when using power tools. A power stance, to begin with.

this side view tells it like it is. I forgot all about it! I stepped over a pile of my kid’s books that were stacked up like this, and thought the color was too good—plus ducks, cats, and moons. We used to go to sleep with this 🙃
