WHY WE HAVE TO SAY ALL THESE? Last year was my son's first year at school and I said all those things which all the parents usually say like, be kind, listen to the teacher, don't hurt anyone etc., And also thought I have done my job. But after some time, my son started telling me that no one wants to be his best friend, his best friend is not talking to him, his friend is not sharing anything with him, some one is behaving bad and saying bad words even after saying no, and it went on for the whole year. Although these are common, he is not prepared for it. Then I realised that, I have to prepare my son for the real situations and have to tell him what really happens and how things work. We might feel that this is not that important and they will learn by themselves. But what I feel is, when a child goes to school for the first time, we have to educate them about possible things that might happen, both good and bad. This way, they know what they can expect and won't feel too much for what's happening with them. This is just to empower them. I Hope you agree with me. Please give a 🙌 in the comments. #backtoschool #schooldays #preschoolers #firstdayofschool #firstschoolday #academicyear #preschoolteachers #kindergarten #kindergartenteacher #toddlerparents #schoolcounselor #newschoolers #preschooler #playschool #schoolfriend #newfriendships #newdreams #schoolsupplies #schooluniform #indianschools #bangaloreschools #mustwatch #parentsofinstagram #cbseschool #icseschool by @mettle.mother
Children don’t stop asking because they become independent. They stop asking because they run a small calculation every time before they come to us. Will this go well or will it not. And after enough times of it not going well, they just stop running the calculation altogether. What we don’t realise is that a child who comes to you with a small thing is not just asking for help with that thing. They are checking if you are still a safe place. Every time we sigh, correct before we appreciate, say you should know this already, or give half our attention, we are answering that question. And they remember the answer. Children who grow up feeling like their needs are an inconvenience don’t become needy adults. They become adults who struggle to ask for help, who over-function, who quietly carry things that were never meant to be carried alone. It starts at 10 with a wrapping paper. It shows up at 30 in ways that are much harder to trace back. You don’t have to be perfect. But try to be someone they don’t have to think twice about coming to. That is one of the most important things you can build with your child right now. Share this with the parent whom you think need this. ❤️❤️ #parenting #fyp #explorepage✨ #november #trendingnow (child development conscious parenting tweens millennial parents raising kids gen alpha independent kids life skills self reliant children emotional intelligence kids parenting tweens raising boys, raising girls, new parents, girl mom, boy mom, 10 year old, middle school, safe home, connection, absent parents, silent child, self learning, independent child, toys, motor skills, friendship, tween friendship, happy kids, parent coach, child development mentor, early years educator, teacher, school, viral post, parents on Instagram, Birthday gift) by @mettle.mother
Children attach to things in a way we sometimes forget is very real. A toy is not just a toy to them. It is comfort, safety, the memory of the person who gave it to them. And when it is suddenly gone, the loss they feel is just as heavy as any loss we feel as adults. We also fall apart when we lose something that meant something to us. We also need someone to just sit with us and say I know, that is really hard. So why do we expect our children to be any different? When you dismiss what they are feeling, they don’t stop feeling it. They just stop bringing it to you. But when you sit with them and say yes, that was really hard, I understand — something shifts. They feel accepted. Moving on becomes easier not because the grief disappears but because they are not carrying it alone. And this is also how they learn to understand others. A child who was heard when they were hurting grows up knowing how to be there for someone else who is hurting. Empathy is not something we teach with words. It is something they absorb from how we treat them in their hardest moments. It starts with something as small as a rabbit. Share this with a parent who needs to hear it today. Let me be honest with you. I grew up with the same checklist most of us did. Listen to elders, don’t answer back, study well, get good marks. And I’m not saying any of it is bad. 🤍 Listening, respect and grades matter too. They teach discipline and effort. But if that is ALL we are preparing our kids for, we are preparing them for the world we grew up in. And that world is changing very fast. Why the old checklist is not enough anymore Marks tell us how a child did in an exam. They don’t tell us if the child can handle a bad day, a phone that never stops buzzing, or a situation where we are not around. Obedience works only while we are standing there. Our kids will have to think, decide and say no on their own. What the next 15 years will ask from them ✅ Managing on their own by 15, from food to money to their daily routine ✅ Picking up new skills and upskilling again and again ✅ Turning what they learn into real work, and later into earning ✅ Keeping up with technology as it keeps changing ✅ Staying safe online, including online friendships and relationships ✅ Understanding how the real world works, beyond the textbook These are life skills and survival skills. No school gives a marksheet for them, but they decide how well our child lives. Where to start Pick just one this week. Let them plan a small outing or cook a simple meal. Which one of these did nobody teach you, and you are still learning now? Tell me below 👇 Save this and share it with a parent who is still only chasing marks. 🤍 #readysteadyparent #parents #instagood #trendingreels #viral (life skills for kids, parenting in 2026, future ready kids, raising independent kids, screen time, AI and kids, child safety, personal boundaries for kids, gen alpha parenting, toddlers, preschoolers, tweens, teens, Indian parenting, conscious parenting, social media, dating, Snapchat, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, relationships, survival skills, mobile, teaching, teacher, millennial parents, gen X, gen alpha, gen beta, parent coach, skill coach, early years educator) by @mettle.mother
Every parent who has taken their child out has been there. You plan it, you look forward to it, you want it to be good for them. And then your child is on the floor crying, nothing you say is working, and everyone around you is watching. That moment is hard. Not just because of the child but because of everything happening inside you too. The embarrassment. The frustration. The helplessness. It is a lot. But here is what is also happening — your child is not giving you a hard time. They are having one. A mall is genuinely overwhelming for a small child. Bright lights, loud sounds, crowds, long walks, hunger, waiting, and so much to want and not get. The breakdown was building long before the toy. A few things that actually help: Prepare them before you go in. Tell them where you are going, how long and what the plan is. Children do better when they know what to expect. Give them one small choice. You can pick one thing today. That one sentence gives them something to hold onto and reduces the constant asking. When it goes wrong, step away from the crowd. Take them to a quieter corner, get down to their level and hold them first. Their nervous system needs to settle before any words can reach them. Calm works. Logic doesn’t. Don’t let the people around you decide how you respond to your child. Their opinion of your parenting matters far less than your child feeling safe with you. They are not a bad child. They are little and learning. Every parent wants the same thing: a child who grows up calm, confident and able to handle life. 🤍 We spend so much time on marks, classes and schedules. But so much of who our children become comes from tiny habits they pick up quietly, day after day. In today’s reel, I shared 8 habits that are rarely taught but can make a real difference. Some of us grew up with a few of them, like packing the bag the night before or carrying a book. Others learned them much later, and that’s okay. No blame here. Every one of these can be taught at any age. Why these habits matter even more today Our kids are growing up in a world of automation, endless scrolling and instant entertainment. There’s always something to fill every gap. That’s why so many parents worry about “brain rot,” and honestly, the worry is fair. These habits are the opposite of that. They teach a child to pause, notice, plan, stay calm and think before reacting. No app or AI can build these skills for them. 🧠 How to start without overwhelming yourself 1️⃣ Pick just ONE habit from the reel. Not all 8. 2️⃣ Do it yourself for a week, in front of your child. No announcement, no explaining. 3️⃣ Let your child join in on their own. Then add the next habit. If your child resists at first, that’s normal. Habits are built by showing up daily, not by getting it perfect. Just begin again. Save this reel and come back to it each week. 📌 Your turn: Which of these habits do you already follow at home? Which one would you add? Tell me in the comments. 👇 Share this with a parent who wants their child to grow up calm, confident and thoughtful. 🤍 Day 92/100 | Ready Steady Parent #readysteadyparent #parents #fyp #instagood #explorepage✨ (good habits for kids, habits to teach children, parenting tips, child development, early years education, life skills for children, brain rot in kids, screen-free habits, reading habit for children, bedtime routine for kids, gen alpha parenting, toddlers, preschoolers, tweens, teens, Indian parenting, conscious parents) by @mettle.mother
If your child has suddenly become someone you feel like you don’t fully know anymore — quieter, more closed off, spending hours in their room, more interested in friends than family — you are not losing them. You are just watching them become someone new. Around age 10 or 11 this shift starts. And most parents are not prepared for it because nobody really talks about what puberty actually does beyond the physical changes. Their brain is literally rewiring. Their sense of self is forming. They are figuring out who they are and they need space to do that without feeling like every part of them is being watched and corrected. This doesn’t mean they don’t need you. They need you more than ever. Just differently. Learn what is happening inside them. Not just the biology but the emotional side of it. The mood swings. The need to belong. The sensitivity to how people see them. Talk to them about it. They will feel less alone in it. They are not becoming your opponent. They are building their own world while still needing you as their strongest pillar. Be the lighthouse. You don’t control where the ship goes. You just make sure it always knows where safe ground is. Correct them when you need to. But listen more than you speak. Acknowledge what they feel before you respond to what they did. Let them know they never have to perform a version of themselves to feel accepted at home. That is the home a teenager will always come back to. Every house has heard this line at some point. “Kids today are so rude.” “They have no patience.” “They don’t respect anyone.” I’ve said versions of it too, in my weaker moments. But when I slowed down and looked at what actually happens in a normal day, I saw how often a child’s try gets answered with a correction. They offer help and hear “you’ll make it worse.” They share what happened at school and hear “you must have done something.” They take their time and hear “why are you so slow.” After enough of this, a child stops trying, stops sharing, and starts reacting. The same child gets called rude. A child can only show us the skills we gave them room to build. Patience, calm, confidence and respect all grow through practice, and practice needs a parent who stays steady while the child is still learning. When we shout back at a shouting child, we aren’t teaching them how to calm down. We’re showing them what an angry adult looks like. None of this means you’re a bad parent. Most of us were raised exactly like this, and nobody ever showed us another way. The good part is that it can change quickly. The next time your child tries something, pause for three seconds before you correct anything. Those three seconds are where a child learns they’re allowed to try. Share this with a parent who needs to hear it today. #indianparents #millennial #viral #fypppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp #trendingnow (gen alpha, gen z, kids these days, child behavior, rude kids, emotional regulation, child mental health, breaking generational cycles, relatives, social media, Instagram, YouTube, millennial parents, working parents India, Indian parents, toxic parents, toddler, preschooler, teen, tween, adolescents, rude child, arrogant child, disrespectful child, obedient child, adhd, impulsive, smart parent, future ready child, Indian kids, modern parents, independent play, learning, talking back, saying no, parent coach, mentor, early years expert) by @mettle.mother
When something goes wrong, most parents go straight to telling the child what they did wrong. And the child goes straight to defending themselves. Nobody learns anything. The moment just gets survived. What Dhruv’s dad did was different. He asked questions first. He let Dhruv talk through the whole thing from the beginning. And somewhere in the middle of explaining it all, Dhruv started hearing himself. Started seeing what actually happened. Started feeling the weight of it on his own — without being told. That is the difference between a child who owns a mistake and a child who just waits for the punishment to end. When a child is allowed to speak first, something shifts. They stop being defensive because nobody is attacking them. They start thinking instead of reacting. And by the time the conversation ends, the lesson isn’t coming from you anymore. It is coming from inside them. That kind of lesson sticks. The next time your child does something wrong, try asking before telling. Not to let them off the hook. But to give them the chance to find the hook themselves. That is what builds a child who actually tries not to repeat it. Share this with a parent who wants their words to stay with their child long after the conversation is over. #parents #fyp #ᴛʀᴇɴᴅɪɴɢᴘᴏsᴛ #instagood #explorepage (how to talk to your child about mistakes, conscious parenting, positive discipline, child anger management, parenting tips India, how to handle child fighting, Indian parenting community, millennial parenting, child development India, raising emotionally intelligent kids, parent child communication, gentle parenting India, building resilience in children, how to teach kids accountability, parenting and emotional regulation, gen alpha, gen beta, child behaviour, parent coach, mentor) by @mettle.mother
A child who hides things is not a dishonest child. She is a child who learned that honesty came with a cost she didn’t want to pay again. It didn’t happen because of one big moment. It happened slowly. The questions that went on too long. The reaction that felt too big for the mistake. The night she told the truth and still felt like she had done something unforgivable. Children remember all of it. And they adapt. They learn what to say and what to leave out. They get better at it without anyone teaching them. This is not manipulation. This is a child protecting herself from something she remembers too well. The parent who stays calm when something goes wrong, who listens before reacting, who makes the child feel like the mistake and the person are two separate things — that parent gets told things. Not because they are lenient. Because they are safe. That is the only difference between a child who walks in and tells you everything and one who spends 20 minutes on the school bus figuring out what not to say. Share this with every parent who wants to be the person their child runs to, not away from. #indianparents #childhood #explorepage✨ #instadaily #trendingpost (why kids lie to parents, child honesty and parenting, building trust with your child, conscious parenting India, how to make your child feel safe, parenting tips India, Indian parenting community, child behaviour and parenting, raising honest children, parent child communication, millennial parenting, child development India, gentle parenting India, how to respond when child makes mistake, parenting and trust) by @mettle.mother
A child doesn’t need a perfect home. They need a predictable one. The difference between the two is bigger than most of us realise. Every time a child walks into a room unsure of what mood they’ll meet, they learn something, not through words, but through their own nervous system. They learn to read a room before they speak. To shrink before they’re told to. To carry a parent’s stress as if it were their own, simply because nobody ever said it wasn’t theirs to carry. None of this looks dramatic from the outside. It looks like an ordinary Tuesday. A sharp tone over something small. A child quietly pulled into an adult conversation they were never meant to be in. A dream being handed down instead of discovered. These moments don’t feel like harm in the room they happen in. They only reveal their weight years later, in a child who struggles to trust their own feelings, or in an adult who still flinches at raised voices. What makes this harder to catch is that most of it comes from love, not neglect. We don’t mean to pass on our stress. We’re simply repeating what was never undone in us. The good news is none of this is fixed or final. A home can become steadier, one choice at a time, starting with simply noticing what a child is actually absorbing, not just what we intended to teach them. Awareness changes everything. Share this with a parent who needs it too. #readysteadyparent #parents #instagood #viralvideo (gen alpha, gen z, millennial parents, boomer parents, breaking generational cycles, self reflection for parents, emotionally healthy kids, child anxiety and home environment, positive discipline techniques, child mental health, emotional intelligence for kids, Indian parenting community, working parents India, mindful parenting, conscious home environment) by @mettle.mother
Overprotection and obsession for perfection rarely looks like harm. It looks like a packed bag, a solved problem, a parent who steps in before anything goes wrong. It looks exactly like love. But what it quietly builds over time is a child who stops thinking ahead. Who stops trying. Who gets so used to things being handled that they genuinely forget how to handle things themselves. Aditya is not a real child. But he lives in a lot of homes. The goal was never to raise a child who needs you forever. It was to raise one who can stand on their own — and still chooses to come back to you. That starts with one small step back. Not because you don’t care. Because you do. Share this with a parent who needs to read it today. #parenting #independent #lifeskills #trendingpost #explorepage (overprotective parenting, raising independent kids, helicopter parenting India, parenting teenagers India, child independence, raising responsible children, conscious parenting India, parenting tips India, teen parenting, raising confident kids, child development India, Indian parenting community, letting kids fail, building resilience in children, millennial parenting India) by @mettle.mother
