📢 WE’RE HIRING! 📢

🚀At the end of this season, we are saying goodbye to our Farm Manager Jacob after 5 years. We’re looking for an experienced Farm Manager to lead MEVO into its next chapter of growth. This position will begin full-time at the start of the 2027 season.

🥾 For the first time ever, we’re offering a Fall Trail Crew Internship. Plus, there are still spots available on our Fall Farm Crew Internship.

🌱 Our Fall Internships both start on September 13th, so if you’ve been thinking about applying, now’s the time to get your application in. Our internships are catered toward college-aged individuals looking to gain skills in trail building, organic farming, public speaking, community engagement, and more.

🌱 Turning A New Leaf: MEVO 2026 🌱

In 2025, MEVO lost our second farm, Lovewell Farm, after 8 years of growing.

But every ending is an opportunity.

In 2026, MEVO plans to grow by:

👩‍🌾 Repairing a local greenhouse so we can continue growing nearly 20,000 lbs of vegetables annually to provide our community with nourishing produce

⚒️ Launching a fall trail crew internship program in partnership with @nynjtc to double our annual efforts to build and maintain local hiking trails

🚯 Re-launching our trash clean-ups on Stag Hill in support of the Ramapough Lenape Nation, where MEVO has already helped to remove 850,000 lbs of illegal dumping since we began in 2008

🚨 Due to heavy rains and staff shortages we have made the difficult decision to not attend the @ramseyfarmersmarket today. We apologize for any inconvenience but will have a farm stand at our farm tomorrow from 4-6pm.

🌈 We still have a beautiful harvest to share and will hold a pop-up market stand at our farm on Monday. Details:

WHERE: Fresh Roots Farm, 200 Campgaw Road, Mahwah

👉 GPS is not always helpful in getting to us.

1.) Ensure you turn into the Campgaw Mountain Reservation (there will be a big sign), not the archery range! For instructions with photos, use this link, following the info for the Fresh Roots Farm: https://www.mevo.org/contact

2.) Once in the reservation, stay on the road you came in on and bear left at the gate soon after you enter the reservation, (do not turn down the gate, that’s for the ski area!)

3.) Keep driving until you hit our cul de sac. Walk up toward the bathroom building and enter through our open gate.

WHEN: Monday 10/12 from 4-6pm

WHAT: Lots of nightshades, greens, roots, and herbs. We accept cash, card, and Apple Pay!

While you stop by, feel free to talk a stroll around the farm. by @mevoearth

UPDATE 10/5/26: Stag Hill Cleanups are cancelled (for good reason!)

After scouting Stag Hill for additional dumpsites, we realized that the majority of the trash has been successfully removed since MEVO's cleanups began in 2012. The remaining dumping is either not accessible to volunteers, is on private property, or requires specialized machinery to remove.

As such, our scheduled cleanups for October are cancelled. However, we will look to expand our trash cleanup program in other areas across Mahwah and Bergen County. Know of somewhere that needs some TLC? DM us!

STAG HILL CLEAN UPS ARE BACK!

🌲 In 2011, MEVO began supporting efforts to remove large-scale illegal dumping from the preserved forests of Stag Hill, the ancestral land of the Ramapough Lenape Nation ( @rmii_org ).

🤝 Years later, the Land Conservancy of New Jersey ( @tlcnewjersey ) purchased a 54-acre parcel of land on Stag Hill known as Split Rock Mountain. TLC-NJ returned the land to the Ramapough Lenape Nation in a land trust. MEVO was contracted by TLC-NJ to further clean up the site.

🚯 Through 100% volunteer-powered events, MEVO helped to remove 850,000 pounds of trash over a decade. After a four-year hiatus, we’re relaunching our Stag Hill Cleanups this October.

🗓️ Join us on Saturday October 10th and Saturday October 24th to help us remove illegal dumping from Stag Hill. The volunteer events will run from 10AM-1PM each day. Please sign up online to attend. We hope to see you there!

🐯 Join us at Fresh Roots Farm on Sunday October 11th from 3:00-4:30PM for our annual Fall Wild Food Walk! 🍂

🪄Learn how we can take fall forest and field abundance into our kitchens through this walk led by MEVO Executive Director Violet Reed.

🌿 We will learn how to safely identify and use a handful of plants for culinary and medicinal purposes. Plants covered in this course will include Chickweed, Dandelion, Black Walnut, Hickory Nut, Burdock, Mugwort, and more.

🌻 We celebrated our Summer Interns’ last day a few weeks ago.

👩‍🌾🏞️ In addition to being an enthusiastic and passionate group of young adults, their hard work has been a huge help on the farm and the trails @nynjtc
