The Snow Bowl Trails Project has officially broken ground and we are super stoked! The first phase of this long term project is rerouting the existing Fire Tower trail off of the steep access road and into the woods. This trail follows a much more gentle grade through some very scenic parts of the park. Future phases will build new downhill mountain bike trails along the old Milton Snow Bowl ski slopes.

RAD trail crew worked for the days, joining forces with @mevoearth trail crew for the third day. 16 volunteers showed up to help this weekend and we got so much done. The entire corridor is sawed free of old blowdowns, clipped back, and leaf layers removed. MEVO even spent the third day digging side hill while RAD continued clearing.

The hard part of the trail build is still ahead of us though as now we need to dig out rocks and create a smooth multi use trail that all can enjoy. Keep an eve out for upcoming volunteer days. There are still 4 planned this season!

A Greener Mahwah Starts With All of Us.

At Team Mahwah, we believe protecting our environment and preserving the natural beauty of our township is an important part of building a stronger community for generations to come.

Mahwah is fortunate to have organizations like the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization (MEVO) and the Mahwah Environmental Commission & Green Team working to promote sustainability, environmental education, and community involvement.

We will always support local efforts that help keep Mahwah clean, green, and beautiful. We encourage residents to learn more about these organizations, explore their work, and find a way to get involved.

Together, we can make a difference in the future of Mahwah.

Some evenings stay with you because of the people you share them with 💛

MEVO’s 11th Annual Farm Feast was one of those for me. I loved celebrating Waltraud and Dan’s anniversary, and our table with Tom, Felipe, Ron, Frank and Diana made the night even more special.

What I also love about MEVO is the purpose behind evenings like this. It brings people together around local food, local farms and community in such a meaningful way.

If you have a local farm or community organization you love supporting, tag them below.

MEVO and RAD trail crews joined forces over two weekends to build “turnpiking” over a perennially wet sloppy muddy stretch of trail in Mahlon Dickerson. The volunteers set curbs on either side, filled with crush and then topped with brown mineral soil. Roughly 60 volunteer hours went into this project that will now forever make for a more enjoyable stretch of trail to hike.

DM us to join the crew and get in on the trail fun!

The next two Sundays and Mondays the RAD trail crew is joining forces with the @mevoearth Trail Crew. We are going to be building turnpiking on the Blue Trail at the stream crossing to address the perpetually muddy areas.

Come lend a hand! DM for more details.
