One of the highlights in Palm Springs was meeting @annefaithnicholls and getting to tour her studio, view her new series and the pieces she is working on now. Anne is a modern neosurrealist artist. Her paintings tell stories of beautiful dreamscapes, the human subconscious, religion, enlightenment and her travels around the world. Her brush strokes are soft, meticulous and detailed. Her images are placed thoughtfully and intentionally on the canvas with a wonderful intellectual thought process and beautiful story behind every corner. Although she is hesitant to tell you her thoughts behind the pieces, she loves to hear your perspective of what you feel and see in her work always provoking deep thought and interesting conversation. I recently acquired one of the pieces from her latest work titled ‘Portals’. It’s one in a triptych seen together in the last photo taken for Palm Springs Life Magazine. 1. ‘Thermae’ - Theremae were public bathing facilities in Ancient Rome used for healing and renewing. 36x48 Acrylic on canvas
2. ‘Union’ - A symbolic depiction of the tenets of union 36x48 Acrylic on canvas
3. ‘Portals’ - A consideration of choices painted as portals to evolution and enlightenment 36x48 Acrylic on canvas
4 & 5. Annes studio. 6. ‘Milagros’ - The Spanish word milagro translates to miracle given to symbolize the nature of a wish for the future or a healing request. These are pinned to a tangled thicket as a symbol of good luck.

Was super excited to catch the ‘Lisa Yuskavage: Drawings’ exhibit @themorganlibrary I have admired her work for years. It paired well with the ‘Renoir: Drawings’ exhibit that was showing as well.
Both artists place the female figure at the core of their work.
Yuskavage drawings explore nude portraiture, landscape and still life using a multitude of mediums to create a certain style and mood for each piece. Her figurative drawings echo the technique of the Impressionist masters such as Renoir and Degas but with a provocative, contemporary eccentric approach. The Morgan placing these two past and present exhibits together makes the viewer realize the historical continuity of the lineage of the European painterly tradition into a modern visual language. I thought it was brilliant for The Morgan to quietly stage that conversation. Yuskavage Drawings will be up until January and Renoir Drawings will be showing until February it will then move to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
1. Yuskavage: Still Life Wearing a Wig. 1999. Watercolor on Paper
2. Yuskavage: All’s I Got Are Big Boobs. 1996. Pastel
3. Yuskavage: Bad Habits Facing West. 2000. Gouache on black paper.
4. Yuskavage: Untitled. Oil on paper. 1990’s.
5. Renoir: Study for The Great Bathers. 1886. Black chalk, graphite on paper.

Loved hosting 3 amazing artists from New Orleans last night. Tracey Mose who creates the coolest art on mirrors you have ever seen. (Go to her Instagram right now to view!) Tony Mose whose figurative paintings are so interesting and beautiful with a modern take incorporating almost androgynous religious and royal type figures into imaginative self portrait like pieces. I wanted 10. I got 1. Chris Baker who creates wood and neon sculptures that are so ridiculously beautiful combining raw nature with sculptured neon light immediately made the space interesting and vibe-y. I wish I could have kept it all! My house feels so bare now with it all gone. If you have any questions or are interested in any pieces feel free to DM 🤍 by @mhbartadvisory

How amazing is this new piece by artist @ricardo_ruiz_the_elder titled A Dream for the Insomniac, Beloved. Oil on canvas 4’x5’. Ruiz is one of the most talented artists to come out of South Texas. If you are a lover of art and live in South Texas then you must have a Ruiz in your collection. The beautiful detail that goes into creating each character in the folk like storytelling on his canvas is astounding.

This Summer the Baldwin Gallery was having a Peter Halley exhibit. I fell in love with these bright neon geometric paintings. These abstract partitioned pieces suggest structures such as cages, grilles, computer chips, electrical conduits minimized down creating beautiful vivid angular landscapes. Peter Halley is from NYC, went to Yale then received his MFA from the University of New Orleans. He was the Director of Graduate Studies in Painting at Yale before returning to NYC. He is known for being a central figure in creating the Neo Conceptualist movement. DM for more information🤍 taken in Aspen, Colorado by @mhbartadvisory

The Casterline | Goodman Gallery in Aspen was featuring work by world renowned Scottish born artist photographer David Yarrow when I was there. His latest series of work incorporates the backdrops of West Texas and Colorado which grabbed my attention immediately. #1 Montana Rodeo. This shot is fantastic. From the cowboy’s fringe leather chaps to the motion of the bull to the background of the beautiful sky and the cheering cowboys in the bleachers. True Americana at its best. #2 Playing with a revisioning of the Wild West this photograph of familiar faces in western character at the J-Bar invokes a type of intriguing Mountain Saloon storytelling. J-Bar has hosted a plethora of wild characters in its day. From 19th century Cowboys, Miners and soldiers to Hunter S. Thompson’s office headquarters when running for Sheriff of Aspen in 1970. It is a saloon that deserves much admiration and this photo is an ode to that. #3 Marathon, Texas longhorn. No famous faces needed to make this an interesting photograph. This photograph invokes a strong sense of place and the peaceful remoteness that is West Texas. DM for more details… taken in Aspen, Colorado by @mhbartadvisory
