When y’all say, “When they go low, we go lower,” this is how it actually resonates.Taking the high road is not about letting people disrespect you. Mia's a** comes across our feed often, and it's honestly one of the most fabulous ones we've seen. She posts these beautiful pictures of her burlesque and it's not the feathers or sequins that makes her gorgeous, it's her confidence."I think scars are rad. They tell a story and they set you apart, yet create solidarity.Before my double mastectomy, I thought they were going to bother me. I even considered tattoos as someone who has no tattoos at all. I heard all kinds of things during that time. “Breasts don’t make you a woman.” “Will you quit burlesque? Are you gonna sell your feather fans?” Some asked, “Are you going to get nipple tattoos?But once my scars were there and all the surgeries were done, I realized they were enough for me. I didn’t need nipples on my body. I couldn’t even feel the ends of my breasts where my nipples had been.Do what you want with your skin and your own body. This is my personal preference and experience. I felt like, for me, having implants was as far as I was willing to go to keep the hourglass figure I loved so much. Time will tell what I choose to do with this body and what fate brings to it.Somehow the scars made me feel more honest, cool, and really beautiful. They may bother some people, but who cares?
