For the past 5 years, I have had the pleasure of building The PEARS Project alongside incredible members of the community. I’ve never liked saying I “founded” PEARS, because truth is, I didn’t, every survivor before, during, and those after my time will and have built and shaped PEARS into the collective and community it is today.
As I leave the university, I am stepping away from PEARS to ensure it remains student run. PEARS will continue to grow, shape, and address the needs of community by survivors and for survivors.
I am so grateful for the trust and community, so I am sharing this so folks know I wont be reachable via the PEARS channels, if you need to connect with me my DM’s are open, PEARS folks can also point you my way, but for PEARS related needs and offerings please reach out to them directly <3
I am so grateful to PEARS and the incredible relationships built. Through PEARS I was able to process and for the first time break my silence about my own experiences of sexualized violence. Grassroots survivor spaces like PEARS have saved my life more than once and I am so grateful for everyone who’s played a part.

I truly believe that the most important/meaningful thing I have and will ever do is carry survivors truths with me, and I will continue carrying them with me for the rest of my life. To every survivor who has trusted me with your truth, there are no words for how grateful and honoured I am. I have witnessed our community do incredible things and build meaningful solidarity and connections across movements, lands, and communities. Survivors will always mobilize, create spaces for community and change, resist, and fight.

PEARS will continue to be a movement that relentlessly pushes for change and demands that survivors deserve better. It has been my greatest honor to bring her to life alongside you all and I cannot wait to continue watching her grow in all of your hands and hearts.

As always,
I hear you, I see you, and I believe you.

With solidarity, love, rage, peace, joy, grief, and everything in between

Gazing down at the city distracting the men below with my boobs and lack of self respect✨

But fr let’s take a moment to address the censorship of bodies, shall we?

I’ll start by reminding you that gender is a social construct and it’s binary has been used to for hundreds of years as a tool of oppression and a way to shame, exclude, and invalidate people. The concept of the gender binary is inherently colonialist, misogynistic, racist, and heteronormative. The ideation of sex and gender is one that has varied across historical time periods and amongst different cultures, complex sex/gender systems were found in every region of the continent, among every type of culture, including Indigenous groups in Canada. It is a fact that humans exceed sexual dimorphism.

The “female body” has been dramatically hyper-sexualized and censored at the same time. It has been thrust into a world of expectations and demands. People, want to see the “female body”, however, they only want to do so on their terms. If I cover my body I’m a prude, if I post a topless photo, I am a whore or a slut. And consequently, Instagram will take my photo down because of..nipples? Our bodies have been used against us.

Bodies of non-binary, fluid, trans, & genderqueer folks have been outright dismissed and determined entirely invalid. Capitalism thrives upon our desires to change our appearance.
The white, cis-gendered, able-bodied, smooth, and toned with weight in all the right places body is what is most valued in society. The bodies of Black, trans, Indigenous, obese, and gender variant people are not viewed, valued, treated or able to access the world the same.

Bodies & gender are policed, divided, enforced, & conditioned.
The gender binary is an inherently exploitative, colonial, hegemonic, eurocentric, capitalist state-centric, essentialist, conceptualized binary.

Fuck the gender binary and heteropatriarchy, educate yourself. Stop enforcing standards, norms, and stereotypes on skin, flesh, fat, bones, and nipples. K thanks
