The energy in Detroit was unmatched for the Black & Connected Statewide Leadership Mixer. Thank you to all the future and current leaders who showed up to build genuine momentum across the state. A major shoutout goes to our partners at the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, NextGen Detroit, and the Voting Access for All Coalition for helping power this space. The work continues.

“If not me, then who? If not now, then when?”

Last week, I had the honor of organizing a Capitol Day alongside the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, the Michigan Black Summit, the Michigan Young Black Leaders Coalition, and many incredible partners from across Michigan.

Together, we brought dozens of advocates to Lansing to speak out against rising utility bills and the impact they have on working families and frontline communities. We met with nearly 1/3 of the Michigan House, advocated for affordable energy, and made it clear that people should always come before profits & politics.

I was also honored to speak at the press conference and help amplify these important issues.

I’m grateful for this leadership opportunity. I hope that moments like this remind others that young people, especially young Black people, belong in leadership spaces.
We don’t just need to amplify youth voices; we need to amplify youth leadership!!

GET ACTIVE & SHOW UP!!!

Last Week, I had the honor of hosting a powerful community Town Hall with the Greater Grand Rapids NAACP, the Michigan Black Summit, and Michigan LCV. Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped create a space where real community voices and real solutions could rise.

This was the first of three town halls happening across Michigan to prepare for the 2026 Michigan Black Summit. We’re gathering the issues, ideas, and solutions that matter most straight from the community.

We ended the night with a Letter Writing Campaign so every voice in the room could reach elected officials directly!!!🗣️

As we move toward February 2026, I want to encourage everyone, community members and allies, to purchase your Summit tickets and show up in that space. From my fellow Divine 9 members and changemakers to our young leaders and allies, we should all be in this room!!! The Summit will bring together community leaders, organizers, advocates, and policymakers to take on the issues impacting us most.
Representation matters!
Being in the room matters!
Your voice matters!

Detroit, Kalamazoo, and Benton Harbor, you’re up next!!!😉

Stay tuned, stay engaged, and join us on the road to the Summit✊🏽 taken in Grand Rapids, Michigan by @michael_king37
