My brother David and I have always known that one day we would have to face losing our Dad, but nothing really prepares you for it.

Sadly, our Dad, Alan Porter, passed away on Sunday, August 30th.

Although his health had been failing, his passing was unexpected and we are still coming to terms with the fact that he is no longer here.

Dad was a huge part of our lives. He was someone we could always rely on for his advice, support and love. He was our Dad, our hero and our best friend.

It is difficult to imagine life without him, and we know we will miss him every day. But we are grateful for all the years we had together, the memories we shared and everything he did for us.

We will forever love him and remember him.

Any close family and friends wishing to attend Dad’s funeral, please message me.

Love you Dad, always xxxxx by @michaelalanporter

Originally inspired by the movie Beat Street (1984) I set about to create an instrumental b boy style tune right after I was signed to Acid Jazz Records in 2005. Around this time I was working with Dan Roberts & his sister Jess Roberts on various music projects along with guitarist Nick Pride & keyboardists Mike Porter. An instrumental song quickly developed into a cover version of Spencer Davis ‘I’m A Man’ in 2007 Record Kicks licences my version and released a 7” the tune became synonymous in the breakdancing world and was even used in b boy championship finale! I synced this movie with my version for fun to show how powerful inspiration can be! This track has had millions of views across all platforms .A few years ago we decided to make an updated version with John Turrell, Neil Harland, Oscar Cassidy, Lloyd Wright and of course Mike Porter @smooveturrell which was released on Jalapeno Records & on 7” Legere Records in 2019. 🙌✊ by @michaelalanporter
