Digital photography can be a great thing. It’s instant, infinite and cheap in comparison to analogue.

Photography is no longer an elitist pursuit and that’s a good thing…

Despite that, it brings chaos, clutter and data we don’t even look at after firing the shutter.

Even after freezing my ass of in the polar nights of murmansk, it is only 3 years later that I review what I shot…

As for film, the archive is systematic; 36 files per folder, each filed by name, date, location, film type and camera. And I anticipate each frame with impatience 😄

Away from the computer, I am unable to “correct” any of those pictures. But maybe that’s a good thing. Straight from the camera out to the world, much like the analogue way. taken in Murmansk, Russia by @michaelalexanderjob

Instead of taking a direct route to Bishkek from Frankfurt via Istanbul, I thought it would be a brilliant idea (it wasn’t) to take a Ryanair flight to Zagreb, then one to Sofia, then an overnight bus to Istanbul.

Rather than sleep in the comfort of my own bed, I slept in airports and on park benches. Was it clever? Not at all. Was it worth it? Not quite. But was it fun? Moderately.

Shot in the backwoods of the Issyk-Kul‘ region in Kyrgyzstan! These mountains are known as the Cheese Mountains due their unique rock formation akin to the structural composition of cheese!
