POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
On Friday October 7th, I had to make the hardest decision of my life. Around 12:30am, I was woken up by a loud cry. It was Peanut. He had fallen off the bed. Which has never happened before, he knows where the edge is. And he always sleeps glued to my side. I think he lost his balance or had a seizure and fell. I quickly picked him up. His breathing shallow and quick. I could feel some liquid coming out of his mouth. I turned the light on and it was blood. I quickly put him down on the carpet with a towel underneath. He wasn’t moving. And his breathing didn’t get any better. Panic set in. I was shaking and crying. I couldn’t breath or think. I just kept repeating “Peanut stop! It’s ok! Please stop! I love you”

I wrapped him up in a blanket, put him in his bed and brought him to the ER. They did a quick exam. His temperature was low, a murmur in his heart. They vet said it might be congestive heart failure. They gave him a light sedative, did some blood work, took X-rays and put him in a heated oxygen tank. They sent the X-rays to a specialist. Waiting for the results felt like a lifetime. The tears wouldn’t stop streaming down my face.

A couple hours went by and the results were back. And worse than the vet had predicted. He had fluid in his lungs and esophagus, among some other problems. I was too numb to understand half of what she was saying.

Then, two options were presented to me. Either take more X-rays in a few hours to see if he got better or worse (if the same or worse then he would have to be sent to a specialist) OR to put him down. Those three words killed me. What was I hearing?! Put him down? Fuck.

A few more hours went by. They put us in a separate room so I can have some alone time with him. He was asleep then stumbling around, then asleep, then stumbling. At 5am I started to call my family one by one to let them know what was going on. My baby boy was suffering. And they each said their last I love you’s to him.

He was hanging on for me, but also telling me he was suffering. He’s such a little fighter.

Around 6:30am, Peanut took his last breath, in my arms. The pain and guilt I felt, and still feel, I can’t explain (cont. in comments) by @michelle_sroda

Happy Father’s Day to my best friend. My biggest cheerleader. The man that has been my biggest supporter of all of my dreams and goals, no matter how big or small. To the man that would drop everything to be there for me. For showing me what true love is towards my stepmother so I never settle for anything less than what I deserve. To the king of dad jokes, the funniest man I know. For helping me during hard times, no questions asked. For listening to me vent or cry and telling me everything will be ok and it will all work out. And it always does. For celebrating my wins with me and telling me how proud you always are of me. To the man that gave me a crazy work ethic and believing I can do anything I set my heart to. Happy Father’s Day daddio. Thank you for everything.

Tomorrow, love you 🫶🏼 by @michelle_sroda

Feeling extra grateful today 🫶🏼 Little did I know the impact my pet care business would make in the years to come. Today we participated in a charity walk benefiting @humanecolorado and with the help of the amazing community I’ve built with my business, I was able to raise over $2k to help thousands of animals in need! 🤍🐾 Thank you x a million to all of my clients and friends that donated! taken in Wash Park, Denver by @michelle_sroda
