One of many memorable moments from @jasonreynolds83's Reading Rock Stars school visit in Austin. The kids had such great questions that led to some interesting and sometimes hilarious conversations. taken in Austin, Texas by @michelleahernan

Texas Book Festival is exactly one month away, and the schedule is LIVE! ✨🙌🏼✨ I celebrated by visiting my first favorite indie bookstore, @bookpeople (the official @texasbookfest bookseller❤️), checking out the TBF display, and browsing picture books. by @michelleahernan

Una Palabra: Grateful

Grateful to gather en comunidad with our Somos Escritoras Mother-Daughter Book Club to read and discuss the El Cuarto Turquesa/Turquoise Room and Singing Justice/Singing Peace: The Story of Joan Baez by Monica Brown.

Grateful to sketch and write about our hopes and dreams for ourselves and our mothers and daughters - putting into the world all that we hold in our hearts, letting our imaginations dream of endless possibilities.

Grateful to Penelope’s for opening space for our mother-daughter book club - and like the books we read and discussed continues to plant seeds in our community of hope and love.

Grateful to partner with the Texas Book Festival Real Reads Program and the wonderful Michelle Hernandez who makes dreams come true.

Can’t wait for our next meeting at the Texas Book Festival to gather with Monica Brown and learn with and from her. by @michelleahernan

Reading Rock Stars Austin is coming this November! Let's gooooo!! ✨✨

As is tradition, on the Friday before Texas Book Festival weekend in Austin, authors and illustrators fly or drive in a day early to take part in Reading Rock Stars school visits.

I can't wait for kids to get their hands on these books and to meet their awesome creators. I can't wait for these creators to meet thousands of awesome Austin kids! 💗

A bookish (and soggy) NYC adventure! Brooklyn Book Festival, a bevy of bookstores, good bites, a brilliant Broadway show, and bonus joy found in spotting @shadrieka's beautiful art on the train. Love you forever, New York!❤️ by @michelleahernan

Reveling in the little things, quiet moments, time with loved ones, time alone, picture books, my favorite vegan ice cream, a movie night in, working from coffee shops and taco spots, a bookstore cat, my sweet pup 💚 by @michelleahernan

We were excited to stop by @redsalmonarts inaugural Austin Latinx Micro-Book Festival today (It's going on tomorrow too, so it's not too late!✨). It was great supporting small presses, bringing home books by new-to-me authors, and talking to folks at the fest. I also loved learning about @mexamericon festival, taking place on Halloween at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center. I'm looking forward to checking it out!

Long live community spaces, indie publishers and bookshops, and people who work to share stories, essays, comics, poetry, and other creative endeavors with us all. I am grateful.❤️

Two more local stops included picking up a birthday gift from @pallbearer_press and grabbing fun drinks from @chicchiccafe.🎊 by @michelleahernan
