I started my business 13 years ago. I hoped to be lucky enough to have at least one client a month and explore all kinds of styles. I’ve been fortunate enough to help over 200 clients with projects as small as a one time consultation to a 7 year multi-building new construction residence. Budgets have ranged from pro-bono for non-profits to what’s appropriate for a billionaire and everyone in between. I love leading my talented team and helping my clients with homes that are unapologetically rebellious, confident and comfortable. Thank you to all of my friends, family, team members past and present, clients, vendors, contractors, trades people and artists that have been there along the way. Cheers to more! #ConfidentInteriorDesign #RebelliousInteriorDesign #MichelleDirkseInteriorDesign taken in Seattle, Washington by @michelledirkse

I love selecting art for projects! Often clients have an existing art collection that we get to place or they plan to slowly collect works over time. For the #MdidDowntownCondo , our client enlisted us to source art along with new furniture and paint. This custom art piece from @kokirkyamahira really made the space. I am so grateful that he trusted our custom neon yellow request. Design by team @michelledirkse photography by @aaronleitz taken in Seattle, Washington by @michelledirkse

I love selecting art for our projects and it’s especially fun when we get to add something unexpected that makes you smile. In the age of “open it up, make it a great room”, I often decide to do the opposite. For our clients very large family room, we added a wall. By doing so, our clients now have a separate moody lounge and office area to contrast with the adjacent bright white family room. I love the new cozy feel. I loved mixing desaturated jewel tones, literal jewels, brass accents and pattern for our Redmond project. Design by @michelledirkse photo by @rafaelsoldi taken in Redmond, Washington by @michelledirkse

So much fun! Our clients found this beautiful stone and we selected our finishes to create a colorful surprise in our clients’ primarily neutral home. We had a great partial furniture installation yesterday at one of our Capitol Hill projects. We drew inspiration from our clients’ vibrant art which they’ve collected during their travels abroad. Looking forward to the dining room next! Interior design by team @michelledirkse taken in Seattle, Washington by @michelledirkse

For the dining room at our Whidbey Island project, we commissioned a piece from @shar_coulson through @fosterwhitegallery . We love the abstract colors and textures against the stone wall and surrounding wood. It reminds me of the movement of the sea and the salty air.
